Sample interview questions
How would you incorporate privacy-by-design into a new AI-enabled SaaS feature?

I would engage early with product and engineering teams to map data flows, define purposes and retention, assess legal bases, evaluate vendor and transfer risks, and document mitigations. I would then convert requirements into clear product controls, contract terms, notices, and launch criteria.

How do you balance commercial urgency with uncertain emerging AI regulation?

I use a risk-based framework that identifies material legal exposure, customer impact, and feasible technical controls. I provide practical options with clear risk trade-offs, prioritize reversible safeguards, and update guidance as regulations and enforcement expectations develop.

Describe your approach to reviewing an enterprise SaaS product's open-source software use.

I partner with engineering to inventory components and licenses, determine obligations such as attribution or source-code disclosure, evaluate compatibility with the commercial distribution model, and implement an approval and monitoring process through the product lifecycle.

How would you advise on an international transfer of personal data for a cloud service?

I would identify the transfer path, applicable privacy regimes, contractual and technical safeguards, vendor roles, and local access risks. I would recommend appropriate transfer mechanisms, assess supplementary measures, and ensure the customer documentation accurately reflects the processing arrangement.

How do you communicate a complex legal risk to product leaders who need to make a rapid decision?

I explain the issue in plain language, state the business impact and likelihood, distinguish legal requirements from preferred practices, and offer prioritized options. This enables stakeholders to make an informed decision while preserving a documented and proportionate risk posture.
