Academic Advisor

I am an experienced Academic Advisor currently working at Indiana University, Kokomo, where I guide college students through their degree programs to ensure their successful graduation. My role involves coaching, problem-solving, utilizing technology, and coordinating with faculty and staff to support student success. Prior to this, I served as a First-Time Freshman Admissions Counselor at Indiana Wesleyan University, where I promoted the university to prospective students and helped them transition into college life. I built strong relationships with students and their families through extensive communication and travel, encouraging students to pursue their passions and callings.

Before entering higher education advising, I worked as a School-Based Life Skills Clinician at Community Health Network, assisting K-12 children in developing coping, emotional, and behavioral self-regulation skills. I collaborated closely with schools and therapists to provide comprehensive care to children and their families. Earlier in my career, I gained experience as a Student Receptionist at Anderson University's Counseling Services, where I welcomed clients, managed appointments, and maintained confidentiality while handling communications.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated strong communication skills, organizational ability, punctuality, and effective time management. I am skilled at coordinating with teammates and have received training in interpersonal skills, all of which enable me to support students and colleagues effectively. I hold a degree in Family Sciences with a minor in Social Work from Anderson University, which has provided me with a solid foundation in understanding family dynamics and social services.

I am passionate about helping students navigate their academic journeys and personal development. My experience across educational and clinical settings has equipped me with a diverse skill set to address student needs holistically. I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes student growth and success.
