I take broken Linux systems from first symptom to a working config. Most of that experience comes from systems I built and run myself: a Bitcoin Knots node with electrs/fulcrum, layer 2 Lightining via LND, and layer 3 via Cashu. A nix-bitcoin setup on NixOS with custom flake.nix and configuration.nix files, and an Ubuntu/Fedora headless Homelab running Nextcloud, Vaultwarden, Caddy and Headscale. Or, because I enjoy downloading, installing, and configuring new Linux systems like CachyOS, Tails, Arch Linux, Debian, etc. I am an advanced user of AI. I use harnesses, cloud agents, sandboxed, agentic-engineered teams of agents.
When something breaks, I start with journalctl and systemctl, then work through config files, permissions, ports and the network path with curl, dig, nc and OpenSSL. I write down what failed and what fixed it and keep it in Git, so the next problem starts from notes instead of memory. I also utilize advanced AI harnesses when troubleshooting, and building. I use AI as a learning tool/tutor. I do not give full access, and allow it to do everything. I follow along, ask questions, take notes, and genuinely try to learn. There is no sense of self satisfaction when AI is allowed to do everything without my involvement.
My public node repository documents one build end to end: default-deny UFW, key-only SSH reachable only over Tailscale, fail2ban, sysctl hardening, and an ASIC miner isolated on its own subnet behind DATUM Gateway. Although, I have many private repository containing different project ideas, and experiments.
My paid IT experience is student work on Grand Rapids Community College's IT team: Windows 11 imaging, faculty and lab workstation troubleshooting, printers and hardware. Before IT, I spent eight years on night shift at Sysco Foods doing warehouse work until I decided I needed something more fulfilling to do.
Much of my project work is AI-assisted: I use Claude Code, Codex CLI, Grok, Cursor, OpenRouter free tier, and AGY (Gemini-Antigravity-CLI), and documentation to work through unfamiliar configs and scripts as mentioned above I read along and ask probing questions. My AI is prompted to explain the commands used, the flags, and how they work together.
I'm looking for remote Linux, application, or blockchain node/wallet support work during US Eastern daytime hours.
