Professor of English

I am a strong career-oriented candidate with expertise in English as a Foreign Language, providing excellent training to organizations in both corporate and not-for-profit industries. Over the past several years, I have taught English to professional students studying nursing and nutrition at Universidad del Istmo in Juchitan, Oaxaca, Mexico. My teaching responsibilities include managing three levels per semester, incorporating visual aids, grammar, homework, and class participation. I am also responsible for attendance, level testing, and final grade submission.

Previously, I worked as an ESL Instructor at the Boston Academy of English, where I taught students from diverse linguistic backgrounds including Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Eastern Asian languages. I delivered general English classes from basic to fluency levels and specialized business English classes tailored to individual student needs, including business meetings and presentations. I also conducted writing workshops focusing on creative writing and job proposal design.

At the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, I taught ESL to adult learners, mainly Spanish and Brazilian students, covering beginning to intermediate levels, business English, and advanced American slang and idioms. I also prepared students for the TOEFL test, using modern technology such as smart boards and rear projection systems to enhance learning.

My earlier experience includes teaching English and coordinating events at Kaplan, Inc., where I taught teenagers and business students, focusing on business English, TOEFL, and TOEIC preparation. I have also taught English and History at various international schools in Colombia and Honduras, where I developed lesson plans, promoted freedom of expression, and coordinated afterschool ESL programs.

I am fully fluent in German, with strong writing, reading, and speaking skills. I am proficient in various computer applications including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PeopleSoft, and language software applications. My educational background includes a Master of Arts in English Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Education and History from the University of Massachusetts, as well as a TEFL certificate from the American Institute for English Studies.
