Infrastructure Engineer

I am a self-taught infrastructure generalist with over 9 years of hands-on experience in Linux and Windows server administration, networking, VoIP, virtualization, and Python automation. I currently operate at a systems/infrastructure engineer level at a managed service provider in Salt Lake City. I have a proven ability to own technical problems end-to-end, from network topology to the application layer, in both client-facing and internal environments. I build tooling, write documentation, and solve problems that others escalate.

Throughout my career, I have designed, deployed, and supported hybrid IT infrastructures including Windows Server environments, secure multi-VLAN networks, and VoIP systems for diverse small and medium business clients. I have experience in identifying and researching prospective clients through proactive site intelligence gathering and producing actionable sales briefs.

I have completed full ground-up apartment network builds, including structured cabling, switch configuration, VLAN generation via custom Python scripts, AP deployment, and resident-facing WiFi onboarding tooling. I design and deliver WiFi coverage plans using Ubiquiti UniFi Design Manager for multi-floor residential buildings, validating coverage with heatmap analysis.

I have resolved complex security issues such as email spoofing vulnerabilities bypassing enterprise spam filtering by building custom spoofing test tools. I also redocument complex multi-site networks spanning multiple VLANs and VPN mesh routers, enabling hardware refreshes and DHCP pool expansions. I configure Azure AD / Entra ID SSO integrations and perform full Synology NAS fleet remediation across multiple client sites.

I build and maintain automation scripts in Python for deployment, monitoring, and network configuration generation. I have deployed end-to-end apartment network infrastructure at new construction sites and led migrations of phone systems to new FreePBX platforms. I am experienced in VoIP support, documentation, and remote management practices.

In previous roles, I played a key role in enterprise-scale technology rollouts including Android MDM migration, RingCentral VoIP deployment, and Office 365 migration for thousands of employees. I have managed Cisco Meraki firewalls and MDM platforms, resolved network addressing challenges, and led satellite office network buildouts independently.

I also maintain a homelab and notable projects including self-hosted WireGuard mesh networks, iRedMail email servers with DMARC enforcement, IoT smart lock prototypes, reverse-engineered web game APIs, and chess coach web apps integrating Google Gemini API. I run a full-service web hosting side business with custom CLI tooling and Stripe billing integration.
