The Role

As Assistant Manager, Assessment Boards, Awards and Student Records, you will coordinate and manage the administration of assessment boards and related processes, ensuring compliance with academic policies and external regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Student Records Manager, you will uphold academic integrity, support student record accuracy, and lead the effective operation of assessment boards to enhance the student experience. This is a key role in maintaining quality assurance standards and fostering collaboration across CCL and Corndel teams.

Responsibilities Include

  • Coordinate scheduling, preparation, and administration of all assessment boards.
  • Prepare and distribute documentation and materials required for assessment boards.
  • Serve as secretary and primary contact for assessment boards and related queries.
  • Act as secretary for relevant committees or student panels.
  • Ensure compliance with CCL academic policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Set up module and assessment records on the Student Record System.
  • Release module and progression results; communicate outcomes to students.
  • Accurately record and report assessment outcomes to students, staff, and committees.
  • Support training of staff on assessment board processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and review assessment board processes to identify improvements.
  • Liaise with external examiners and validating bodies as required.
  • Manage academic appeals processes ensuring timely and fair resolutions.
  • Process student marks, casework outcomes, and maintain correct student records.
  • Collaborate with Registry staff, programme teams, and Degree Apprenticeship Administration to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manage student journey administration on the student records system (enrolment, transcripts, withdrawals, etc.).
  • Ensure integrity and confidentiality of all assessment-related data.
  • Implement feedback from external examiners and regulatory bodies to improve processes.
  • Produce reports for senior academic committees on quality assurance and student representation.
  • Support data collation and returns to external bodies and validating boards.
  • Maintain communication with validating partners for Degree Apprenticeships.
  • Identify and escalate risks affecting student experience or CCL’s reputation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information requirements and train/support team as needed.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required, including support for graduation and broader Registry activities.

About You

  • You have excellent knowledge of the UK higher education sector and understand its regulatory, policy, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • You are highly organised and able to manage complex projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • You communicate complex information clearly, tactfully, and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • You demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to fairness, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • You are proactive, collaborative, and capable of working independently using your initiative.
  • You are committed to providing an excellent student experience and fostering positive stakeholder relationships.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Degree-level education or equivalent with a commitment to professional development.
  • Proven experience managing assessment processes and boards in higher education.
  • Strong understanding of academic regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with student management data systems for recording marks and academic progress.
  • Committee support and servicing experience, including minute-taking, report writing, and action monitoring.
  • Experience working within quality assurance, enhancement, and student experience functions.
  • Ability to manage academic appeals and student casework.
  • Experience producing high-quality written reports.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills with ability to prioritise.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and student record systems.
  • Ability to analyse and disseminate information effectively to support decision-making.
  • Ability to apply CCL’s assessment regulations fairly and consistently.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.

Desirable

  • Understanding of statutory and regulatory data returns related to student records.
  • Experience informing and implementing HE policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience designing or delivering training related to assessment processes.

The role comes with a salary of Β£38,000 per annum.

We offer temporary contract for 6 months.
