About the Team

It’s an exciting time to join our rapidly growing Tax team and be a part of the fast growth the Company is experiencing, particularly with new product initiatives! The Tax team is heavily involved in the operations of the business that impact Dashers, Merchants and Customers. As a key partner to the business, we are involved at the front end on plans for new products and country expansions as well as the sales and onboarding process with new Merchants. As DoorDash continues to expand its business lines, product offerings, and global footprint, partnering with the business teams to bring tax awareness for such initiatives continues to grow in importance.

About the Role

The key area of focus of this role will be to support DoorDash’s various (and growing) business lines with a goal of unlocking and advancing opportunities for our rapidly-scaling businesses, while managing risk levels associated with the tax issues stemming from such efforts. The role will be part of the Tax Advisory and Planning function, supporting various new product initiatives as well as owning and driving tax product initiatives and other tax planning projects.

A successful candidate will be able to build successful relationships within Tax and across the broader company, simultaneously manage multiple cross-functional projects and initiatives, recommend and support the implementation of product solutions that satisfy DoorDash’s tax obligations, provide tax advice on tax and non-tax initiatives, and implement automated and scalable processes to support the rapid expansion of both DoorDash and the Tax team.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Actively partner with a variety of DoorDash teams, including product, engineering, legal, accounting, and finance on new products, initiatives, and expansions of existing products.
  • Provide DoorDash teams with applicable daily and strategic input to minimize tax risks while advancing goals and expansion of the business.
  • Project manage new product, expansion, process improvement, and operational projects for the Tax team, including the creating project plans, setting project timelines, and tracking deliverables and action items.
  • Operate at the lowest level of detail, diving into all things that directly or indirectly impact tax for DoorDash’s products and initiatives in order to ensure compliance while also helping unlock and grow the business.
  • Communicate with stakeholders at all levels on project plans, status, and important issues.
  • Design scalable playbooks that document the team’s tax policies and procedures.
  • Provide tax advice within the Tax team on strategic tax planning initiatives, legislative developments, and other ad hoc matters.
  • Manage external advisors as necessary.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 8+ years of experience in tax, finance (including accounting), legal, project management, consulting, or related experience
    • High-growth or early-stage startup experience is a plus.
    • Experience managing large consulting, advisory, or other project engagements preferred.
  • You have a proven track record of managing cross-functional projects with multiple dependencies in a fast-moving environment.
  • You have demonstrated success in your ability to explain complex tax issues in a clear and understandable manner.
  • You roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary to drive results, even if it’s outside your normal areas of focus.
  • You have a strong attention to detail and analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and can motivate people at all levels across a variety of job responsibilities.
  • You approach your role with a strong moral compass and integrity.
