MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Directed Energy Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a fully remote position.
As a Senior Directed Energy System Engineer, you will possess broad experience in all aspects of the theory & practice of high energy laser (HEL) and/or high-power microwave (HPM) systems engineering, to support multiple projects.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Involvement with HEL system technology and beam control, including laser safety, thermal management of the laser and beam train, and atmospheric propagation.
- Familiarity with performance testing of integrated HEL systems both in laboratory and outdoor environments.
- Involvement with high power microwave system technology and HPM subsystems to include power generation and antennas.
- Familiarity with performance testing of integrated HPM systems both in laboratory and outdoor testing environments.
- Ability to perform system engineering of directed energy system programs. This includes modelling, simulation and analysis, requirements analysis, and system and subsystem specification generation.
- Interaction with Government and Industry DE professionals in the performance of these duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 20+ years of experience in laser physics, electro-optical system engineering, or high-power radio frequency system engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering field required; an additional 4 years of related experience might be substituted for a degree.
- Familiarity with on-going US DoD Directed Energy weapon development programs.
- 3+ years of experience in project management or technical direction of technology development programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or PhD in Physics or Engineering.
Clearance Requirements
- This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- No Clearance Required to Start.
Physical Requirements:
- You must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- This position also requires occasional movement within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- You must be able to frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may include delivering presentations. The ability to exchange accurate information in these situations is essential.
The projected compensation range for this position is $134,400.00-$239,300.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
