About the Role:

Are you a seasoned Technical Writer with a passion for healthcare technology and a proven ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively? We are seeking a Principal Technical Writer to lead documentation efforts for our innovative healthcare solutions. This senior-level role is ideal for a documentation expert who thrives in cross-functional environments and is ready to own and drive the content strategy for complex, regulated healthcare software products.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for creating high-impact user documentation, API references, SOPs, and training materials that serve a wide range of healthcare users. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, UX designers, and subject matter experts to ensure content is not only technically accurate but also accessible, compliant, and aligned with product release cycles.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of user documentation for healthcare software products, including user guides, online help, API references, release notes, SOPs, and training materials

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and validate technical content, ensuring documentation accurately reflects product functionality and healthcare workflows

  • Drive documentation planning and execution throughout the product development lifecycle to support timely and successful product releases

  • Ensure all content meets applicable healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and internal quality standards

  • Establish and maintain version-controlled documentation repositories, ensuring consistency and accessibility across platforms

  • Define documentation standards, templates, and best practices; mentor other writers and advocate for continuous improvement in documentation processes

  • Create or support the development of multimedia content such as instructional videos, interactive help, and tutorials to enhance user understanding and engagement

  • Champion the voice of the user by producing content that is clear, accessible, and tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences

What You’ll Bring:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5–8 years of professional experience in technical writing, preferably in the healthcare, medical device, or health IT industries

  • Extensive experience developing content for complex software systems, including EHR/EMR platforms, APIs, and cloud-based applications

  • Strong understanding of healthcare-specific technologies, standards, and compliance requirements (e.g., HL7, FHIR, HIPAA)

  • Proficiency with industry-standard documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, RoboHelp, or equivalent

  • Familiarity with source control systems (e.g., Git), content management systems (CMS), and Agile tools like Jira and Confluence

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project requirements in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience documenting cloud-based healthcare SaaS platforms

  • Familiarity with clinical workflows and medical terminology

  • Knowledge of accessibility and usability standards (e.g., WCAG)

  • Experience creating rich media content such as video tutorials or interactive guides

  • Proficiency in structured authoring and familiarity with DITA/XML frameworks
