The position requires experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, modern frameworks, and backend languages like Java or Python. It also demands knowledge of TAK or similar systems, and a Secret clearance is required. This is a fully remote, future opportunity with a focus on real-time data visualization and DoD security standards.

Job Complexity

Easy Hard
AI Insight The role requires a blend of front-end and back-end skills, experience with tactical systems like TAK, and understanding of DoD security and data strategies, which adds complexity. The need for a Secret clearance and potential for SCI eligibility increases the difficulty.

Salary Analysis

Median
USD190,600
US Market
USD100,000 – USD180,000
AI Insight The offered salary range of $137,100-$244,100 is well above the typical US market range for a Web Application Software Engineer with 3+ years experience, which is $100,000-$180,000. This suggests a competitive compensation package, likely due to the specialized nature (TAK ecosystem, defense sector) and clearance requirements.

Key Skills

JavaScript HTML CSS Java Python TAK Docker Kubernetes Agile API Integration

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Web Application Software Engineer position at MANTECH. With a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and over 3 years of experience in web development, I have honed my skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks, as well as backend programming with Java and Python. My experience integrating APIs and working with SQL/NoSQL databases aligns well with your requirements.

I have a particular interest in tactical systems and have worked with TAK ecosystem in a previous role, developing plugins and real-time data visualization tools. I am also familiar with DoD security standards and have an active Secret clearance, making me well-prepared to contribute to your mission.

I am excited about the opportunity to join MANTECH and contribute to innovative projects that support our nation's defense. Thank you for considering my application.

Can you describe your experience with the TAK ecosystem? Have you developed any plugins or integrated applications with TAK servers?
I have worked with TAK in a previous role, developing plugins that provided real-time situational awareness data. I integrated TAK servers with custom web applications using the TAK API, enabling data visualization and decision support. I also ensured compliance with TAK standards and patterns.
How would you design a web application that functions in degraded, intermittent, and limited (D-DIL) environments?
I would implement offline-first architecture using service workers and local caching (e.g., IndexedDB). The application would prioritize critical data synchronization when connectivity is available, and use compression and data reduction techniques to minimize bandwidth usage. I would also design the UI to gracefully handle latency and data staleness.
Explain how you would implement identity-based access control following NIST SP 800-207 Zero Trust principles.
I would implement micro-segmentation and least-privilege access using a policy enforcement point (PEP) that evaluates every request based on user identity, device posture, and context. This involves integrating with an identity provider (IdP) for authentication, using attribute-based access control (ABAC), and logging all access for continuous monitoring.
Describe your experience with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes. How have you used them in a CI/CD pipeline?
I have used Docker to containerize web applications and their dependencies, ensuring consistency across environments. I used Kubernetes for orchestration, managing deployments, scaling, and service discovery. In CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI), I automated building Docker images, running tests, and deploying to Kubernetes clusters.
How do you approach integrating multiple data sources (APIs, databases) into a single web application for real-time data visualization?
I would use a backend service (e.g., Node.js or Python) to aggregate data from various APIs and databases, transforming it into a unified format. For real-time updates, I would implement WebSockets or Server-Sent Events. The front-end would use a reactive framework (e.g., React) to update visualizations dynamically. I would also handle error handling and data validation.
