Key Skills

Windows Server Azure AWS PowerShell Ansible Active Directory Infrastructure as Code Cloud Security CI/CD Configuration Management

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Windows Cloud Engineer position at ManTech. With over 7 years of experience in systems engineering and cloud infrastructure, I have successfully designed and maintained hybrid cloud environments in Azure and AWS. My expertise includes deploying Infrastructure as Code, managing Active Directory, and implementing security controls to meet stringent requirements.

I am particularly drawn to ManTech's mission of supporting national defense through innovative technology. In my previous role, I led cloud migration projects that improved system reliability and reduced costs. I am proficient in PowerShell and Ansible for automation, and I hold an Azure Administrator Associate certification.

I am confident that my technical skills and clearance eligibility make me a strong candidate for this role. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the Castle Net team.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Describe your experience with designing and deploying hybrid cloud solutions in Azure or AWS.
I have designed and deployed hybrid cloud environments connecting on-premises data centers to Azure using ExpressRoute and VPN gateways. I implemented Azure Site Recovery for disaster recovery and used Terraform to provision resources. For AWS, I set up Direct Connect and used CloudFormation for infrastructure as code.
How do you approach security compliance in cloud environments, especially for government contracts?
I ensure compliance by implementing security controls per NIST 800-53 and FedRAMP guidelines. I use Azure Policy and AWS Config to enforce rules, enable encryption at rest and in transit, and configure network security groups. I also perform regular vulnerability scanning and patch management.
Can you explain your experience with Active Directory and Group Policy in a hybrid cloud setup?
I have managed Active Directory with Azure AD Connect for hybrid identity, syncing on-premises users to Azure AD. I configured Group Policies for security settings and used Azure AD Domain Services for legacy app authentication. I also implemented conditional access policies for MFA.
Describe a time you automated a manual process using PowerShell or Ansible.
I automated Windows Server patching using PowerShell scripts that scheduled updates via WSUS and reported compliance. For Ansible, I wrote playbooks to deploy IIS web servers and configure firewall rules, reducing deployment time from hours to minutes.
How do you handle documentation and knowledge sharing for complex cloud architectures?
I create detailed network diagrams using Visio and maintain a wiki with architecture decisions, configuration steps, and troubleshooting guides. I hold regular review sessions with the team to ensure documentation is accurate and accessible.
