Key Skills

Food Safety HACCP FDA Regulations GFSI USDA Auditing Training Consulting Risk Assessment Regulatory Compliance

I am writing to express my interest in the Independent Contractor Food Safety Consultant position. With over 10 years of experience in food safety compliance and a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, I bring deep expertise in FDA, GFSI, and USDA regulations. As a PCQI, I have successfully conducted audits and developed HACCP plans for diverse clients.

I operate my own consulting firm, providing services to multiple clients, and I am fully equipped with my own tools and methodologies. My ability to deliver customized training and actionable recommendations aligns perfectly with your needs.

I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to J. J. Keller's EHS Consulting practice and help clients achieve regulatory compliance. Thank you for considering my application.

Can you describe your experience with FSMA and how you have helped clients achieve compliance?
I have extensive experience with FSMA, including conducting gap assessments and developing preventive control plans. For example, I helped a mid-sized food manufacturer implement a FSMA-compliant food safety plan, resulting in a successful FDA inspection.
How do you handle conflicting regulatory requirements between FDA and USDA?
I stay updated on both agencies' regulations and prioritize the most stringent requirements. In a recent project, I integrated both sets of rules into a unified HACCP plan that satisfied both agencies.
Describe a time you had to deliver a training session to a non-technical audience. How did you ensure understanding?
I used simple language and real-world examples. For instance, I trained warehouse staff on GMPs by demonstrating proper handwashing and explaining the 'why' behind each step.
How do you manage your time and priorities when working on multiple client projects simultaneously?
I use project management software to track deadlines and deliverables. I communicate regularly with clients to set expectations and adjust priorities as needed.
What steps do you take to maintain your independent consulting business?
I maintain professional liability insurance, keep detailed financial records, and continuously market my services. I also invest in ongoing education to stay current with regulations.
