Technical Recruiting Global Hiring AI Native Talent Full-Cycle Recruiting Stakeholder Management Data-Driven Recruiting Employer Branding Sourcing Strategy Interview Design HR Compliance

I am writing to express my enthusiasm for the Senior Technical Recruiter position at Deepgram. With over 7 years of experience leading full-cycle recruiting for engineering and AI roles across global markets, I have a proven track record of scaling teams in fast-paced environments. My expertise in sourcing and closing senior technical talent, combined with a deep understanding of the AI landscape, aligns perfectly with Deepgram's mission to lead the Voice AI economy.

I have successfully managed recruiting operations across US, EMEA, and APAC, building pipelines for niche roles like machine learning engineers and customer-facing technical leads. I am adept at using data-driven strategies to improve hiring velocity and candidate quality. I am excited about the opportunity to partner with hiring managers and contribute to Deepgram's global expansion.

How would you approach building a talent pipeline for machine learning engineers in a new region like APAC?
I would start by researching the local tech hubs, universities, and professional communities. Then I'd leverage platforms like LinkedIn, local job boards, and attend industry events. I'd also work with hiring managers to understand regional nuances in role expectations and compensation.
Describe a time you had to adjust your recruiting strategy for a highly competitive niche skill set.
In a previous role, I needed to hire rare NLP scientists. I shifted from reactive sourcing to proactive outreach, creating a targeted map of potential candidates, engaging them through personalized messages and industry content, and offering flexibility in remote work and project scope.
How do you ensure a positive candidate experience across different time zones?
I schedule interviews considering candidate time zones, use async communication tools like Loom for updates, and provide clear timelines. I also assign a single point of contact for each candidate to ensure consistency and responsiveness.
What metrics do you use to evaluate the effectiveness of a global recruiting operation?
Key metrics include time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, source of hire, offer acceptance rate, and diversity ratios. I also track candidate satisfaction scores and hiring manager feedback to continuously improve processes.
How do you partner with hiring managers to define role requirements for a new position?
I start with a kickoff meeting to understand the business need, then work with the manager to create a detailed job description with must-haves vs. nice-to-haves. I also align on interview process, evaluation criteria, and timeline to ensure a smooth collaboration.

Company Operating Rhythm

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Technical Recruiter, you’ll own full-cycle recruiting for our most complex and high-impact engineering roles — spanning customer-facing and core platform teams — across both US and international markets. You’ll help Deepgram scale by building pipelines for AI-native technical talent across geographies, navigating regional market dynamics, and partnering closely with the team on compliant, scalable hiring practices.

This role requires fluency in how AI products are built and deployed, strong judgment on technical bar, and a systems-level view of recruiting — not just within one market, but across time zones, cultures, and the specialized talent communities that define the frontier of voice AI and applied machine learning.

What you’ll do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for senior and hard-to-fill technical roles across Research, Engineering, and Product teams.

  • Lead global recruiting efforts across multiple regions (e.g. US, EMEA, APAC), including sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates in diverse markets.

  • Partner with hiring managers to define role scope, leveling, and interview plans that account for both business needs and regional talent realities.

  • Build proactive sourcing strategies for niche and senior-level technical talent in the US and abroad.

  • Evaluate candidates for technical depth, impact, and alignment with Deepgram’s values across different cultural and regional contexts.

  • Deliver a high-quality candidate experience across time zones through clear communication, thoughtful process design, and operational rigor.

  • Use data and funnel metrics to diagnose issues, improve signal quality, and increase hiring velocity globally.

  • Collaborate with People Ops, Legal, and Finance to support compliant global hiring (employment models, offers, and regional considerations).

  • Help evolve recruiting infrastructure, tools, and interview practices to support international scale.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience leading global expansion efforts, including hiring across multiple countries or regions.

  • Experience recruiting for at least two of the following domains: Customer Engineering / Solutions Engineering, Backend / Platform Infrastructure, Product Engineering, or Developer-facing roles.

  • Strong technical literacy — you don’t need to code, but you should understand how modern software systems, APIs, and customer-integrated technical products are built. We are an AI-native company and believe in the future of these products.

  • Proven ability to source and close senior-level and highly specialized technical talent in competitive, international markets, particularly for roles that sit at the intersection of technical depth and customer impact.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping teams sharpen what “good” looks like across different regions and customer segments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to push back when needed — especially when balancing speed-to-hire with bar integrity for customer-critical roles.

  • A builder’s mindset: you care about process quality, signal, and long-term scalability, not just filling seats.

Nice to Have

  • Experience recruiting for AI-native, AI-first, or applied AI companies

    • Deep familiarity with AI/ML systems, LLMs, real-time inference, or data-intensive infrastructure — enough to hold a credible conversation with the engineers you’re hiring.

    • Experience supporting distributed, remote-first teams building AI products across time zones and geographies.

*For candidates outside of the US, we use an Employer of Record model in many countries, which means benefits are administered locally and governed by country-specific regulations. Because of this, benefits will differ by region — in some cases international employees receive benefits US employees do not, and vice versa. As we scale, we will continue to evaluate where we can create more alignment, but a 1:1 global benefits structure is not always legally or operationally possible.

Backed by prominent investors including Y Combinator, Madrona, Tiger Global, Wing VC and NVIDIA, Deepgram has raised over $215M in total funding. If you’re looking to work on cutting-edge technology and make a significant impact in the AI industry, we’d love to hear from you!

Deepgram is an equal opportunity employer. We want all voices and perspectives represented in our workforce. We are a curious bunch focused on collaboration and doing the right thing. We put our customers first, grow together and move quickly. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, pregnancy, parental status, genetic information, political affiliation, or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.
