Sales Engineering Cybersecurity Network Security Presales Customer Relationship Management Technical Demonstrations Solution Architecture Zero Trust Cloud Security Digital Transformation

I am excited to apply for the Senior Sales Engineer position at Zscaler, as your commitment to securing the AI age and building a culture of impact resonates deeply with my professional values. With over 7 years of presales experience, including 5 years focused on network security solutions, I have a proven track record of driving digital transformation and delivering high-impact technical sales.

My hands-on expertise with routing/switching and deep knowledge of security principles align perfectly with the technical demands of this role. I thrive in ambiguous environments, acting as an owner to build strategic paths and solve complex challenges for enterprise customers.

I am particularly drawn to Zscaler's emphasis on customer obsession and collaborative ownership, and I am eager to contribute to your mission of securing the AI age through thought leadership and technical excellence.

Can you describe a time when you took ownership of a complex technical sale and successfully navigated ambiguity to close the deal?
In my previous role, I led a multi-million dollar deal for a zero-trust network access solution. The customer had unclear requirements and multiple stakeholders. I took ownership by organizing workshops to identify pain points, built a custom demo, and aligned technical capabilities with business outcomes. Despite initial resistance, I persevered, resulting in a successful deployment and a long-term partnership.
How do you stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats and technologies, and how have you applied that knowledge in your presales work?
I regularly attend industry conferences, follow threat intelligence feeds, and participate in vendor training. For example, when the rise of AI-driven attacks emerged, I updated my demos to highlight our AI-powered defenses, which helped a client see the value in modernizing their security stack, leading to a significant upsell.
Describe a situation where you had to collaborate with multiple internal teams (e.g., product, support, marketing) to drive a sale forward. How did you ensure alignment?
During a complex RFP for a global enterprise, I coordinated with product management to address technical gaps, support for proof-of-concept setup, and marketing for custom collateral. I held weekly syncs, used a shared project tracker, and communicated proactively. This cross-functional collaboration resulted in a cohesive proposal that won the deal.
How do you approach technical demonstrations to ensure they resonate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders?
I start by understanding each stakeholder's priorities. For technical audiences, I dive into architecture and APIs; for executives, I focus on ROI and risk reduction. I use a layered demo approach, beginning with a high-level story, then drilling into specifics on request. For example, in a recent demo, I emphasized ease of deployment for IT and cost savings for the CFO, which secured buy-in from both.
This role emphasizes 'acting like an owner' and 'customer obsession.' Can you provide an example where you went above and beyond for a customer?
I once had a customer facing an urgent compliance deadline. I designed a custom proof-of-concept over a weekend, stayed late to answer questions, and provided 24/7 support. I also looped in our professional services to expedite deployment. The customer met their deadline and later expanded their engagement, citing our dedication as a key factor.
