Dear Hiring Manager,

With over three years of experience in systems administration supporting the Navy and USMC, I have developed the technical skills and security expertise required to excel in this role. I am particularly drawn to MANTECH's mission to protect our nation through advanced technology.

In my current role, I have managed Windows servers, configured networking software, and maintained system security and data integrity, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams. My hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP and information security profiles, along with my ongoing pursuit of CompTIA Security+ certification, positions me to contribute from day one.

I appreciate the fully remote nature of this opportunity and am prepared to attend weekly onsite sessions in New River as needed. Thank you for your consideration; I look forward to discussing how I can support MANTECH's critical defense initiatives.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Sample interview questions
Can you describe your experience managing Windows servers in a defense or military environment?

I have spent the past three years administering Windows servers for a Navy support contract, handling installations, upgrades, and daily troubleshooting. I ensured high availability and maintained security compliance with DoD standards.

How would you go about monitoring system configuration and ensuring data integrity on a daily basis?

I typically schedule regular checks of server event logs, use automated monitoring tools to track performance, and validate backups. I also review security patches and access controls to prevent unauthorized changes.

Describe a time you had to troubleshoot a network issue that affected multiple users.

When a critical server went down, I isolated the issue to a faulty network configuration, quickly restored service from a backup, and then analyzed logs to implement a permanent fix. Communication with users throughout the process was key.

What steps do you take to prepare for CompTIA Security+ and how does security apply to your daily work?

I have been studying security fundamentals and applying them by ensuring proper account permissions and encryption. Passing Security+ will deepen my ability to protect system integrity and meet DoD requirements.

How do you handle the requirement to attend weekly onsite sessions while being primarily remote?

I live within commutable distance to New River and can attend the sessions as needed. I plan my week around those onsite days to balance remote and in-person collaboration effectively.
