Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Senior Full Stack Engineer — Platform Extensions role at Fueled. My experience building maintainable web applications, APIs, and third-party integrations across PHP, JavaScript, and React aligns closely with your need for scalable platform extensions.
I bring a product-minded approach to owning features from technical discovery through production delivery, with an emphasis on clean code, testing, debugging, and iterative improvement. I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with Fueled’s product, design, and partner teams to create reliable integrations that deliver meaningful user value.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to discussing how I can contribute to your engineering team.
Sample interview questions
I would start by clarifying the user workflow, platform constraints, authentication model, API limits, and failure scenarios. I would then define a small vertical slice, establish clear interface contracts, build observability and error handling early, and iterate with stakeholders before expanding the integration.
I prioritize code that is readable, modular, well-tested, and aligned with agreed team conventions. During review, I focus on correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and whether the implementation solves the intended user problem rather than simply prescribing stylistic preferences.
I would assess technical debt by its user impact, delivery risk, security implications, and cost of leaving it unresolved. I would address urgent issues immediately and otherwise scope debt reduction into feature work, communicating trade-offs clearly so the team can make intentional decisions.
I use a structured debugging process: reproduce the issue, inspect logs and telemetry, isolate the affected boundary, validate assumptions with targeted tests, and identify the root cause before applying a minimal, safe fix. I then add regression coverage and document any relevant operational learning.
I translate technical choices into user impact, risks, alternatives, and delivery implications. I align early on requirements and success measures, provide concise progress updates, and raise uncertainty or blockers promptly so product, design, and partner teams can make informed decisions.
