Sample interview questions
I would first assess the partner’s service portfolio, cloud maturity, target customers, and existing monitoring capabilities. I would then establish role-based training and certification paths, run practical workshops around priority use cases, and define a joint success plan with measurable outcomes such as certified practitioners, completed proofs of value, and customer adoption milestones. Regular business reviews would be used to identify gaps and continuously refine the program.
For engineers, I focus on faster troubleshooting, unified telemetry, reduced context switching, and practical workflows for detecting and resolving incidents. For executives, I connect those capabilities to reduced downtime, improved customer experience, delivery velocity, operational efficiency, and risk reduction. I tailor the demonstration and success metrics to each audience while maintaining a consistent business narrative.
I begin by aligning on a specific operational problem, the technical scope, stakeholders, data sources, and a time-bound success definition. During the engagement, I prioritize instrumentation, dashboards, alerts, service ownership, and workflows that demonstrate rapid insight into the customer’s environment. I measure outcomes such as time to detect, time to resolve, coverage of critical services, alert quality, and the ability to answer previously difficult operational questions.
I would validate the use case, business impact, technical requirements, and urgency with the partner and customer-facing team. I would investigate available workarounds or adjacent product capabilities, communicate transparent expectations, and document the request clearly for the relevant internal product or engineering stakeholders. I would maintain ownership of follow-up so the partner receives timely updates and the issue is represented accurately in prioritization discussions.
I would assess application architecture, cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, container orchestration, configuration management, security requirements, and existing telemetry. I would help the partner establish observability standards across metrics, logs, traces, and user-impact signals, then integrate those standards into delivery and operational processes. The goal would be to give teams reliable visibility throughout migration, release, and ongoing production support.
