Sample interview questions
I would assess impact, urgency, security risk, and the number of people affected. I would prioritize outages, access or security incidents, and blockers to employee productivity, acknowledge each request quickly, communicate expected next steps, and document or escalate issues as needed.
I would first clarify the exact symptom and scope, then verify network connectivity, identity and MFA status, device-management compliance, system time, certificates, VPN or proxy settings, and relevant application logs. I would test a known-good account or network where appropriate, apply the least disruptive fix, and document the resolution.
I would use a repeatable checklist covering identity creation, least-privilege access, device enrollment in MDM, endpoint security configuration, required applications, hardware assignment, and a short orientation on support channels and security expectations. I would confirm completion with HR and the hiring manager while maintaining accurate asset records.
I would maintain an inventory of equipment and configurations, perform proactive checks before important meetings, monitor recurring issues, keep vendor contacts and escalation paths current, and create clear troubleshooting runbooks. For incidents, I would isolate whether the failure is related to network, hardware, room configuration, or conferencing software and communicate status promptly.
I prioritize work transparently in the ticketing system, keep concise written updates in shared channels, and document decisions and repeatable processes so colleagues can continue work asynchronously. I escalate early when an issue needs specialist input while taking ownership of follow-through and user communication.
