Sample interview questions
Describe how you would approach discovering and translating an accounting firm's existing processes into Karbon workflows.

I would begin with stakeholder discovery sessions to understand services, deadlines, ownership, handoffs, exceptions, and current pain points. I would map the highest-impact workflows first, validate the proposed future state with firm leaders and administrators, then configure repeatable work templates and clear responsibilities in Karbon. I would document decisions and use pilot feedback to refine the configuration before broader rollout.

How would you drive adoption when a firm's team is hesitant to change its established processes?

I would identify the specific sources of resistance, such as unclear benefits, training gaps, or concern about additional work. Then I would connect the new workflow to tangible outcomes such as fewer missed deadlines, better visibility, and less manual follow-up, while providing role-specific training and practical job aids. Early champions and visible quick wins are important for building momentum across the firm.

How do you prioritize work when managing several implementation customers at once?

I use a milestone-based plan for each engagement, with clear next actions, owners, risks, and deadlines. I prioritize customer-blocking configuration items, upcoming launch dates, and activities that unlock early value, while communicating proactively if dependencies or scope changes affect timing. Regular status reviews help maintain accountability and prevent small issues from becoming implementation delays.

What makes an effective Karbon work template for an accounting firm?

An effective template reflects the firm's real service delivery process while remaining simple enough for consistent use. It should define logical task sequencing, ownership, due dates, dependencies, client communication needs, review points, and reporting requirements. I would avoid overengineering and build templates that can be repeated, measured, and improved as the firm matures.

How would you use AI tools to improve implementation delivery without compromising customer trust?

I would use approved AI tools to accelerate first drafts of documentation, training materials, workflow ideas, and meeting summaries, then review and tailor all outputs with professional judgment. I would follow company and customer data-handling policies, avoid entering sensitive information into unapproved tools, and clearly validate recommendations before presenting them. AI should reduce administrative effort while the consultant remains accountable for accuracy and customer outcomes.
