Sample interview questions
How would you build a full-funnel paid social strategy for an ecommerce client with aggressive growth targets?

I would begin by aligning on revenue, acquisition, efficiency, retention, and incrementality goals, then assess audience data, creative assets, historical channel performance, and measurement readiness. I would structure campaigns across awareness, consideration, conversion, and retention, define platform-specific roles, establish a creative-testing roadmap, and set reporting around CAC, MER, LTV, revenue, and incremental lift. I would review performance regularly and shift investment based on both in-platform efficiency and broader business outcomes.

Describe how you have managed large paid social budgets while maintaining efficiency and control.

I use a structured operating cadence that includes budget pacing, platform-level performance monitoring, change logs, QA checks, and clear escalation thresholds. For large budgets, I balance stable always-on activity with controlled testing across audiences, creative, bidding, and placements. I also connect spend decisions to business KPIs and communicate forecast changes early so clients understand risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.

How do you evaluate incrementality when platform-reported conversions are not sufficient?

I combine platform reporting with methods such as geo experiments, conversion-lift or brand-lift studies, holdouts where feasible, media mix modeling inputs, and cohort-based analysis. The appropriate method depends on spend scale, data maturity, and the decision to be made. I focus on producing an actionable answer about the true incremental value of investment rather than relying on one attribution source.

What is your approach to developing paid social team members and managing performance?

I set clear role expectations, establish measurable development goals, and hold regular one-on-ones that cover account quality, strategic thinking, communication, and career progression. I use account reviews and live coaching to provide specific feedback, while giving team members increasing ownership with appropriate support. When performance issues arise, I document expectations, create an improvement plan, and maintain timely, direct communication.

How would you introduce AI-enabled workflows into a paid social team without compromising quality?

I would start with repeatable, low-risk processes such as reporting preparation, QA checklists, insight synthesis, naming validation, and creative-test documentation. Each workflow would have documented inputs, human review points, quality standards, and measurable success criteria such as time saved or error reduction. After validating results, I would train the team, collect feedback, and scale the workflows while preserving strategic and client-facing judgment.
