About this role.
CourseCareers is seeking an experienced HVAC professional to lead a one-hour live workshop each month and optionally provide individual career coaching to aspiring HVAC workers. The coach will share practical guidance on entry-level roles, apprenticeships, EPA 608 certification, and job-search expectations. This is a flexible part-time opportunity rather than a traditional guaranteed-income position, with a guaranteed workshop payment and optional earnings from student coaching. Success depends on credible field experience, clear teaching, and the ability to independently engage and mentor career changers. Evening availability, especially Tuesday through Thursday, is preferred.

Sample interview questions
I would begin with a concise overview of the HVAC career landscape, then explain common entry-level roles, realistic first-year expectations, and the value of apprenticeships and EPA 608 certification. I would reserve time for practical job-search advice and a structured Q&A so students leave with specific next steps.
I use clear examples of the equipment, work environments, schedules, and typical career paths in each segment. I also explain that entry-level opportunities vary by local market, helping students evaluate which path matches their interests, physical requirements, and long-term goals.
I would recommend building foundational knowledge, pursuing applicable training and EPA 608 certification where appropriate, researching local apprenticeships, and tailoring a resume around transferable skills such as safety awareness, customer service, mechanical aptitude, and reliability. I would emphasize applying consistently while continuing to learn.
I would combine short teaching segments with polls, real job-site examples, guided questions, and time for scenario-based discussion. I would avoid jargon or explain it clearly, while offering more advanced context during Q&A for students who already have some trade exposure.
I would clearly explain what coaching includes, set expectations on availability and communication, and provide actionable guidance without promising placement or employment outcomes. I would keep the discussion student-focused, document agreed next steps, and respect CourseCareers' workshop and coaching processes.

About the Role
We’re looking for a part-time HVAC Career Coach to support students through live workshops and optional 1:1 coaching.
This is not a traditional employment role and not a guaranteed-income position. It’s a flexible, paid opportunity best suited for experienced HVAC technicians who enjoy mentoring, teaching, and helping others break into the trade — with upside if students choose to work with you.
How This Role Actually Works
You host a live, one-hour workshop (seminar-style) for students
You are paid $50 per workshop, plus any private coaching business you acquire
You may receive exclusive coaching opportunities based on performance and engagement
Workshops are used to provide value, answer questions, and showcase your real-world experience
If students choose to book you for 1:1 coaching, you keep the coaching revenue
You set your own availability and working hours
There is no requirement to convert students — workshops are paid regardless — but conversion is where the upside comes from.
Responsibilities
Host a live, one-hour workshop on a monthly basis
Answer student questions about HVAC careers and the job search
Share real-world insight into what entry-level HVAC roles, apprenticeships, and certifications actually look like
Provide optional 1:1 coaching to students who request it
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of professional HVAC experience (residential, commercial, or industrial)
Familiarity with entry-level roles, apprenticeships, and certification pathways (EPA 608, etc.)
Interest in mentoring and helping career changers enter the trades
Strong communication and teaching ability
Availability at least three evenings per week, ideally Tuesday–Thursday
Self-starter mindset — comfortable leading workshops independently
Ideal Fit
This role is a great fit if you:
Enjoy teaching and mentoring
Want flexible, side income
Like the idea of being paid to teach — with optional upside
Don’t need guaranteed hours or full-time income
Compensation
$50 per one-hour workshop (One per month guaranteed)
Unlimited upside from 1:1 coaching sessions you convert
No caps, no quotas, no minimums
