Sample interview questions
Describe a computer vision solution you deployed for an end user or customer. How did you define success?

I would begin by clarifying the user's business objective and converting it into measurable technical and operational metrics, such as detection precision, recall, latency, throughput, or reduction in manual review time. I would validate the data, establish a baseline, deploy in stages, and monitor performance against those agreed metrics while gathering user feedback.

How would you troubleshoot a vision model that performs well in development but poorly in a customer's production environment?

I would first compare production inputs and conditions with the training and validation data, including camera angle, lighting, resolution, preprocessing, class distribution, and hardware constraints. I would inspect representative failures, confirm the inference pipeline and model version, then propose targeted data collection, annotation improvements, threshold tuning, or retraining followed by controlled validation.

How do you explain model limitations and tradeoffs to a non-technical stakeholder?

I use plain language tied to the stakeholder's workflow and outcomes, explaining what the model can reliably do, where it may make mistakes, and what safeguards are appropriate. I support the discussion with concrete examples, agreed metrics, and a practical plan for monitoring and improving performance rather than overpromising accuracy.

What is your approach to managing an implementation with multiple customer and internal stakeholders?

I establish a shared implementation plan with owners, milestones, technical dependencies, risks, and success criteria at the outset. I maintain regular status communication, document decisions and blockers, escalate risks early, and keep Sales, Product, Engineering, and the customer aligned on scope and delivery expectations.

How would you create a reusable artifact from a successful customer deployment?

After removing customer-specific details, I would identify the repeatable workflow and package it as a documented sample application, notebook, template, or implementation guide. I would include prerequisites, architecture, setup steps, code comments, validation guidance, common failure modes, and clear instructions for adapting it to similar use cases.

Who We Are

Our mission is to make the world programmable. Sight is one of the key ways we understand the world, and soon this will be true for the software we use, too.

We’re building the tools, community, and resources needed to make the world programmable with artificial intelligence. Roboflow simplifies building and using computer vision models. Today, over 1M+ developers, including those from half the Fortune 100, use Roboflow’s machine learning open source and hosted tools. That includes counting cells to accelerate cancer research, improving construction site safety, digitizing floor plans, preserving coral reef populations, guiding drone flight, and much more.

Roboflow is supported by great customers and investors, having raised over 63 million from Y Combinator, Google Ventures, Craft Ventures, Sam Altman, Lachy Groom, amongst other leading software investors.

Roboflowers are passionate builders who value ownership, accountability, and a bias toward action. We’re curious, hands-on with new tech, and prefer showing our work over talking about it. Many of us have a founder mindset and thrive in our high-autonomy environment.

What You’ll Do:

We’re hiring Implementation Engineers to partner closely with our sales and solutions architect team to drive new customer wins. You’ll have an immense impact on shaping the future of not only this role, but our company.

A large portion of the Roboflow sales process is technical, ensuring customers understand how to incorporate computer vision into their products. Building successful relationships with our customers — many of whom are engineers — as well as showcasing what the Roboflow product is capable of is a key component of the role, so you will leverage both your engineering background and user-facing mindset to be successful.

Because our customers use computer vision in so many different industries (accelerating cancer research, improving manufacturing processes, enabling automated checkout, and so much more), your workday will always include an engaging variety of challenges. You’ll be an integral part of making our customers successful, being responsible for the project management, deployment, and adoption of Roboflow’s computer vision solutions within their products.

This is a hands-on, technical role where you will work closely not only with our customers, but also with our engineering teams and product managers to ensure the successful deployment of our solutions. You will need to combine your expertise in computer vision, machine learning, and Python programming to design, implement, and optimize solutions that solve our customers’ biggest pain points. We want our customers to be life long partners with Roboflow and ensure they are receiving the ROI they envisioned when they first signed on.

If you think, “I’m an engineer that loves sharing my work with others,” you’d be in great company in this role.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support and manage the project delivery of customized solutions to our customers

  • Provide post-deployment support, including troubleshooting, debugging, and educating customers

  • You will collaborate with Sales and Solutions Architect teams to ensure continuity across the customer journey

  • Create technical content to demonstrate best practices (e.g. sample apps, documentation, videos, etc.)

  • Work with sales and product to develop implementation strategies and build roadmaps for our customers

  • Partner with customers to perform analysis on their image data to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement through computer vision

  • Test and validate new product features with customer value creation in mind

  • Contribute to a repository of reusable artifacts that can be used by customers to accelerate their Roboflow journey

  • Work with the wider Roboflow team to improve processes, documentation and the overall customer experience

  • Assist our product team with customer onboarding, support, adoption and engineering efforts

Who You Are:

  • A solution mindset

  • Strong customer facing instincts

  • An enthusiastic, strong, technical generalist

  • A background in computer science or a related field

  • Technical experience in field roles partnering with enterprise customers in a post-sales delivery and implementation capacity

  • Experience utilizing and writing customized Colab notebooks (Python) as a part of the machine learning development lifecycle (and eagerness to learn more)

  • Familiarity with common data processing and computer vision frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch)

  • Diligent problem-solving skills with a customer-centric approach and the ability to think on your feet

  • Proven project management experience as it relates to delivery timelines and commitments

  • Strong knowledge of APIs

  • Willingness to travel ~25%
