Sample interview questions
I verify patient identity and orders, prepare a clean workspace, confirm supplies and labeling before collection, follow approved venipuncture and infection-control procedures, and document and package specimens immediately for transport.
I would introduce myself calmly, explain each step in simple terms, listen to the patient's concerns, and offer appropriate comfort measures such as paced breathing or a brief pause. I would never rush the patient and would prioritize safety and consent.
I review the route and appointment requirements at the start of the day, account for travel and laboratory cutoff times, keep supplies organized, and communicate early with operations if delays or patient issues affect the schedule.
I label specimens in the patient's presence, confirm collection requirements, use the correct tubes and handling procedures, maintain required temperature or transport conditions, and deliver samples promptly to the designated laboratory or service center.
In independent clinical or mobile work, I have prioritized preparation, followed established protocols, documented issues clearly, and escalated exceptions promptly. This approach lets me make sound day-to-day decisions while keeping the broader team informed.
