About this role.
This is a senior technical product management role owning Nextiva's healthcare-vertical strategy for a communications and customer-experience platform. The product manager will define the roadmap for EHR integrations, including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR, and related API capabilities. The position combines market discovery, enterprise sales support, technical product strategy, compliance stewardship, and go-to-market enablement. Success requires translating healthcare workflow and integration requirements into scalable SaaS products while influencing engineering, sales, marketing, customer success, and executive healthcare stakeholders. The role is remote across the United States, with a four-day onsite expectation for team members within 40 miles of the Scottsdale headquarters.

Sample interview questions
I would combine customer demand, revenue potential, strategic-account needs, implementation effort, platform reusability, and regulatory risk into a transparent scoring model. I would validate the ranking through provider interviews, sales pipeline evidence, and engineering discovery, then favor reusable standards-based capabilities such as FHIR before highly bespoke integrations where feasible.
I would begin with workflow research involving care teams, IT administrators, and operational leaders to identify the problem, current process, constraints, and measurable outcome. I would define the target user journey, integration and data requirements, compliance considerations, success metrics, and a phased delivery plan before aligning engineering and go-to-market stakeholders on the roadmap decision.
Key considerations include selecting the right FHIR resources and implementation guides, secure OAuth-based authorization, least-privilege access, patient and tenant isolation, auditability, consent and PHI handling, error recovery, rate limits, and version compatibility. I would also establish a clear testing approach using representative EHR sandbox environments and validate workflows with clinical and IT users.
I would partner with sales to understand the customer outcome and distinguish broadly reusable requirements from account-specific customization. For strategic gaps, I would communicate a clear product position, architecture options, delivery confidence, and roadmap rationale, while using a consistent prioritization framework to protect the long-term platform strategy.
I would track adoption and activation of healthcare integrations, time to implementation, integration reliability, workflow usage, retention and expansion in healthcare accounts, win-rate influence, and customer satisfaction. I would pair these metrics with qualitative feedback from providers and care teams, then use the findings to refine the roadmap and go-to-market messaging.
