About this role.
Klaviyo is hiring a Senior Product Manager to define the strategy and roadmap for its Profiles Platform, the core customer-data system underpinning product experiences across the company. The role owns profile data structures, transformations, storage, computed properties, and service scalability for downstream segmentation, flows, reporting, analytics, and AI use cases. The PM will partner deeply with engineering and Identity, Data, and Consent teams to improve data quality, performance, identity resolution, global compliance, and enterprise-scale ingestion. This is a high-impact onsite Boston position requiring strong technical product judgment, cross-functional alignment, and experience with large-scale data infrastructure.

Sample interview questions
I would start by quantifying customer impact, platform risk, strategic dependency, and engineering effort for each initiative. I would prioritize urgent reliability or compliance risks first, then sequence investments that unlock multiple downstream teams or enterprise use cases, using measurable outcomes such as latency, data accuracy, adoption, and cost per profile.
I would define the target identity model and accuracy metrics with engineering, data, privacy, and downstream product teams. I would evaluate deterministic and probabilistic matching approaches, establish safeguards for false-positive merges, and roll out changes incrementally with monitoring, auditability, and clear customer-facing behavior.
I would track ingestion throughput and freshness, API and query latency, availability, data completeness and correctness, duplicate rates, compute success rates, storage and processing cost, and adoption by downstream products. I would pair system metrics with customer-impact measures such as segmentation accuracy and time to data availability.
I translate the decision into its customer and business consequences, clearly explaining what each option enables, its risks, and the expected timeline. I use concise visuals and decision documents, identify the recommendation and assumptions, and ensure stakeholders understand the metrics that will validate the outcome.
I create a transparent portfolio that reserves capacity for foundational reliability and scalability work while maintaining explicit commitments for customer-facing needs. By showing dependencies, cost of delay, and the impact of technical debt, I help teams make informed sequencing decisions rather than treating platform investments as invisible overhead.

About the Team
The Profiles Platform team owns Klaviyo’s core customer data system, the foundation that powers every product experience across the platform. This team is responsible for storing, managing, and serving customer profile data as the source of truth for downstream products like segmentation, flows, reporting, and analytics. Their work ensures that profile data is accurate, scalable, and usable across the entire product ecosystem. From improving data modeling and computed properties to enabling enterprise-scale ingestion and supporting global compliance needs, this team plays a critical role in making Klaviyo’s platform intelligent and reliable at scale.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the strategy and roadmap for Klaviyo’s Profiles Platform. In this role, you will define how customer profile data is structured, processed, and served across the platform. You’ll work at the intersection of data infrastructure, computed data, and scalability, ensuring that profile data remains trustworthy and performant as Klaviyo grows into more complex enterprise and global use cases. This is a high-impact platform role where your work will directly influence nearly every product team and customer experience. Please note that this is an onsite role that requires 5 days/week in our Boston office. Fully remote candidates will not be considered at this time.
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Own the strategy and roadmap for Klaviyo’s core profile data system, including profile traits, transformations, and storage layers
- Serve as the product owner for the source of truth for customer data across the platform
- Partner closely with engineering to evolve profile data architecture and services at massive scale
- Collaborate with the Identity, Data, and Consent teams to ensure accurate and unified customer records
- Drive improvements in profile data quality, usability, and modeling for downstream consumers (segmentation, flows, analytics, AI)
- Enable enterprise and global expansion by supporting data residency, compliance, and regional infrastructure requirements
- Define and track key metrics around data quality, performance, and system efficiency
What You’ll Work On
- Building a computed properties platform to support derived traits (e.g., LTV, recency/frequency, propensity scoring)
- Improving profile data modeling and transformations to make data more usable across the platform
- Scaling ingestion systems to support billions of profiles and high-throughput workloads
- Reducing cost and improving performance through sharding, traffic smoothing, and optimized write patterns
- Supporting identity quality initiatives (e.g., deduplication, multi-email profiles, probabilistic matching)
- Enabling regulated and global use cases, including data residency (e.g., EU, Japan) and compliance requirements
Who You Are
- You have 6+ years of product management experience, ideally in platform, data infrastructure, or backend systems
- You have experience working on data models, pipelines, or large-scale distributed systems
- You are comfortable operating in highly technical environments and partnering closely with engineering
- You have experience driving cross-team alignment across multiple stakeholders
- You think in terms of systems and tradeoffs (scale, cost, performance, usability)
- You can balance long-term platform investments with short-term product needs
- You communicate clearly and can translate complex technical concepts into business impact
Nice to Have
- Experience with customer data platforms (CDPs) or identity systems
- Familiarity with data modeling, event pipelines, or storage systems (e.g., KVS, streaming ingestion)
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale or high-volume systems
- Exposure to AI/analytics platforms that depend on structured customer data
- Experience with data residency, privacy, or compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
