About this role.
Cloudbeds is hiring a remote US-based DevOps Engineer to build, automate, and operate AWS infrastructure for its hospitality software platform. The role centers on AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, Docker, Helm, CI/CD, and production reliability. The engineer will partner with development teams, promote DevOps practices, and participate in an on-call rotation for production incidents. Candidates need at least three years of AWS-focused DevOps experience, strong container-platform skills, scripting ability, and effective remote collaboration skills.

Sample interview questions
I would use EKS with a clearly defined cluster architecture, IAM roles for service accounts, network segmentation, autoscaling, standardized Helm-based deployments, and policy controls. I would also establish observability, backup and recovery procedures, resource quotas, and documented onboarding patterns so teams can deploy safely and consistently.
I use Terraform modules to standardize reusable infrastructure such as VPCs, EKS clusters, IAM roles, databases, and monitoring integrations. I protect changes through pull-request reviews, remote state with locking, environment-specific configuration, automated plans, and controlled applies through CI/CD.
I would first assess impact, establish incident ownership, and inspect alerts, recent deployments, pod status, cluster events, logs, metrics, and dependency health. I would mitigate quickly through rollback, scaling, or traffic controls where appropriate, communicate status clearly, and then lead a blameless post-incident review with corrective actions.
I would run tests, security scans, and image builds in GitHub Actions, publish versioned images to a secured registry, and update declarative GitOps manifests through reviewed pull requests. Argo CD would reconcile approved desired state to Kubernetes, while secrets management, least-privilege credentials, branch protections, and deployment audit trails reduce risk.
I provide self-service templates, clear documentation, reusable pipeline components, and sensible platform defaults for logging, monitoring, security, and deployment. I also gather developer feedback, pair on complex issues, and measure adoption and delivery outcomes so platform improvements solve practical team needs.
