Sample interview questions
How do you build a new-business pipeline when entering a target account segment?

I begin by defining the ideal customer profile and mapping likely decision-makers and influencers. I prioritize accounts by fit and potential, research their marketing objectives and current activity, then use coordinated email, phone, LinkedIn, and event outreach with a relevant value hypothesis. I track every touchpoint in the CRM, measure conversion by stage, and refine messaging based on response patterns.

Describe how you would qualify a programmatic advertising opportunity using MEDDIC.

I would confirm the prospect’s measurable campaign objectives, such as reach, conversion efficiency, or incremental growth, and identify the economic impact of achieving them. I would clarify decision criteria, the buying process, potential implementation needs, the economic buyer, and an internal champion. I would also surface pain points with the current media approach and document mutual next steps before investing heavily in a proposal.

How would you respond to a prospect who says they already work with another DSP?

I would acknowledge that existing platform relationships are common and avoid positioning a change as necessary without understanding their needs. I would ask what outcomes they value, where they see gaps, and which audience, reporting, efficiency, or campaign challenges remain unresolved. I would then position a focused test or complementary use case tied to a measurable business outcome rather than a generic platform comparison.

What practices help you keep pipeline data accurate and forecasts reliable?

I update opportunity stages immediately after meaningful customer interactions and ensure close dates, next steps, stakeholders, and risks are current. I use objective exit criteria for each stage, regularly review stalled deals, and separate confirmed customer commitments from assumptions. This makes pipeline reviews more useful and allows me to focus effort on the opportunities most likely to progress.

Tell me about a time you revived an inactive opportunity.

I would approach a lapsed opportunity by reviewing the prior discovery, reasons for inactivity, stakeholders, and changes in the customer’s business since the last interaction. My re-engagement would offer a specific, timely reason to reconnect, such as a new campaign objective, market development, or insight relevant to their segment. If interest returns, I would requalify the opportunity rather than assume the previous scope and timeline remain valid.
