Sample interview questions
I would separate the application into domain-focused modules such as agent configuration, knowledge sources, testing, deployment, and analytics. I would establish a reusable design system and component library, use clearly defined server and client state boundaries, and create typed API contracts so workflows remain reliable as the product grows. I would also prioritize permissions, draft-versus-published configuration states, auditability, and robust validation for enterprise users.
I would create a resilient connection layer that manages authentication, reconnects with exponential backoff, detects stale connections, and exposes connection status in the UI. Incoming events should be normalized, ordered where necessary, and buffered or batched to avoid excessive React renders. I would also provide graceful fallback behavior, observability for connection failures, and automated tests for reconnect and out-of-order event scenarios.
I begin with measurement using browser profiling, web-vitals tracking, error monitoring, and network analysis. Common improvements include route-level code splitting, memoizing expensive work only where profiling supports it, virtualizing large data sets, optimizing API payloads, and reducing unnecessary state updates. I would set performance budgets and continuously monitor regressions through CI and production telemetry.
I would first align on the user decision or workflow the AI feature must support, then define clear interaction states for loading, streaming, uncertainty, errors, and human handoff. With AI/ML engineers, I would agree on typed response schemas, latency expectations, confidence signals, and evaluation metrics. With Product and Design, I would validate that users can understand, review, correct, and safely act on AI-generated outputs.
I would establish pragmatic standards for TypeScript, component APIs, testing, accessibility, code review, and release safety. I would invest in reusable components, CI checks, preview environments, error monitoring, and documentation for common patterns. I would also use design reviews and mentoring to share context, raise implementation quality, and help the team make consistent architectural decisions.
