Sample interview questions
I would begin with discovery to define the customer’s risk priorities, development workflow, stakeholders, success criteria, and timeline. I would then scope a representative repository or set of repositories, configure the relevant integrations, and create measurable outcomes such as vulnerability visibility, policy enforcement, remediation workflow, and developer usability. Throughout the POC, I would maintain a shared success plan, resolve technical blockers quickly, and conclude with an executive-ready summary tied to the customer’s business and security objectives.
I tailor the message to the audience while keeping the core value consistent. With developers, I focus on implementation details, API or SCM integrations, workflow impact, and practical remediation steps; with executives, I frame the same capability around risk reduction, operational efficiency, governance, and measurable business outcomes. I validate understanding through questions and use the customer’s own environment and priorities rather than relying on generic product messaging.
A strong answer should describe evaluating open-source dependencies, identifying known vulnerabilities and supply-chain risks, prioritizing findings based on exploitability and business context, and integrating remediation into developer workflows. It should also cover communicating risk clearly, reducing alert fatigue, and working with security and engineering teams to establish policies that are effective without unnecessarily slowing delivery.
I would first understand the specific source of concern, such as false positives, remediation workload, CI/CD delays, or governance requirements. Then I would demonstrate how the solution can be configured around relevant policies, prioritized findings, and existing development workflows, ideally using the customer’s own repository during an evaluation. I would position the goal as reducing busywork and enabling safer delivery, and I would capture product gaps or feedback for the internal team.
I would document the customer context, desired outcome, current workflow, technical evidence, urgency, and revenue or retention impact. Rather than forwarding an isolated feature request, I would identify the underlying problem and note whether it is repeatable across other enterprise accounts. I would then align with Product and Engineering on next steps, keep the account team informed, and close the loop with the customer on decisions or interim workarounds.
