Sample interview questions
How would you structure a discovery call with an enterprise customer evaluating a telemetry platform?

I would begin by understanding their current data sources, observability and security workflows, operational pain points, and desired business outcomes. I would then identify technical constraints, stakeholders, success criteria, and timeline before mapping the platform capabilities to the highest-value use cases.

Describe how you would run a proof of concept for a customer with high-volume log and metric data.

I would jointly define measurable success criteria, select representative data sources and workflows, establish the required environment and access, and create a documented execution plan. During the POC, I would validate data routing, processing, performance, governance, and operational usability, then summarize results and recommended next steps for all stakeholders.

How do you explain a complex technical architecture to both engineers and executive stakeholders?

I tailor the message to the audience. For engineers, I use architecture diagrams, data flows, integration details, and hands-on examples; for executives, I focus on risk reduction, operational efficiency, flexibility, cost implications, and the measurable business impact.

What experience with logs, metrics, IT operations, or security would be most relevant in this role?

Relevant experience includes working with telemetry pipelines, log collection and routing, metric visibility, incident investigation, and security data requirements. I would connect that knowledge to customer problems such as data volume, tool fragmentation, governance, performance, and the need to deliver the right data to the right destination.

How would you handle a difficult technical question during a live product demo when you do not know the answer immediately?

I would be transparent, avoid guessing, and clarify the customer’s underlying requirement. If an immediate validation is possible, I would investigate it during or directly after the session; otherwise, I would document the question, align on a follow-up owner and timeline, and return with an accurate answer and any relevant workaround.
