Sample interview questions
I would begin with customer research, funnel data, portfolio performance, and business objectives to identify the highest-value opportunities. I would size opportunities using customer impact, risk, revenue potential, effort, and strategic alignment, then communicate a sequenced roadmap with measurable outcome metrics and clear assumptions.
I define success using a balanced scorecard rather than conversion alone, including approval quality, repayment outcomes, complaints, fairness indicators, and customer comprehension. I partner early with risk, legal, compliance, and analytics teams so experiments improve the application experience without weakening underwriting controls or creating harmful customer outcomes.
I would track acquisition-to-application conversion, application completion, document-verification success, approval and funding rates, time to decision, time to funding, abandonment reasons, customer satisfaction, and post-origination repayment or delinquency indicators. I would segment these metrics by channel, customer cohort, and funnel step to identify actionable friction.
In one example, I would explain how funnel analysis and customer feedback revealed that a seemingly small verification step caused disproportionate abandonment for a valuable segment. After validating the issue through qualitative research and an experiment, I would prioritize simplifying that experience, measure the lift, and ensure downstream quality metrics remained stable.
I establish a shared problem statement, desired outcomes, decision principles, ownership model, and regular operating cadence. I use concise product briefs, transparent prioritization, dashboard reviews, and early stakeholder involvement to surface trade-offs quickly and keep teams aligned through launch and iteration.
