Sample interview questions
How would you approach technical discovery for a new enterprise card-program partner?

I would begin by documenting the partner's business goals, customer journey, existing systems, compliance constraints, and launch timeline. I would map those needs to platform capabilities, identify gaps and dependencies early, and produce a solution design with clear ownership, risks, and integration milestones.

Describe how you would troubleshoot an integration issue that is blocking a partner launch.

I would first establish the impact, reproduce the issue where possible, and use logs, API traces, and payload comparisons to isolate the failure point. I would coordinate the appropriate internal and partner technical owners, communicate status and mitigations clearly, and document the root cause and preventive actions after resolution.

What payments concepts are most important when architecting a co-branded card solution?

Key considerations include payment-network flows, authorization and settlement behavior, issuer and processor responsibilities, tokenization, dispute and fraud workflows, KYC and identity requirements, data-sharing boundaries, and the customer servicing experience. The architecture must also support reliable reporting, compliance controls, and a scalable launch model.

How do you balance a strategic partner request with product-platform standardization?

I assess the customer and commercial value, technical effort, operational risk, and whether the need is broadly reusable. I advocate for configurable and repeatable solutions where possible, escalate material tradeoffs with a clear recommendation, and set transparent expectations with the partner when a bespoke request is not aligned with platform strategy.

Give an example of an automation opportunity in partner implementation delivery.

A strong opportunity is creating reusable integration checklists, API validation tools, sandbox test suites, and launch-readiness dashboards. These reduce manual coordination, catch configuration errors earlier, provide consistent evidence of readiness, and allow implementation teams to focus on high-value partner-specific decisions.

About this role.

Who We Are

Imprint helps the world’s best brands grow the lifetime value of their customers. We started with co-branded credit cards and rebuilt them to be smarter, more rewarding, and brand-first. We partner with companies like Crate & Barrel, Rakuten, Booking.com, H-E-B, Fetch, and Shell to launch modern credit programs that deepen loyalty, unlock savings, and drive growth. But the card is just the beginning. We combine advanced payments infrastructure, intelligent underwriting, and deep customer data to create delightful and personalized experiences for members as well as efficient and profitable relationships for our brand partners. Our robust technology and world-class operations allow us and our brand partners to offer powerful financial products without becoming a bank.

In the U.S., co-branded cards alone account for over $300 billion in annual spend, and most still run on decades-old legacy bank systems. Imprint is the modern alternative: flexible, embeddable, and built for how people actually pay today. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, Thrive Capital, Ribbit, and Khosla Ventures, we’re building a world-class team to redefine how people pay and how brands grow. If you want to move fast, solve hard problems, and own real outcomes, we want to meet you.

As Lead Solutions Engineer, you will own the technical relationship with Imprint’s enterprise partners, ensuring seamless integration, launch, and enhancements of payment solutions. This is a mission-critical role that sits at the intersection of major enterprise partner delivery and internal product strategy, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong business judgment.

You will act as the strategic technical partner to large enterprise partners: managing complex partner solutions that are delivered over many months, translating partner requirements into actionable solutions, driving repeatable launch processes, and ensuring Imprint’s platform meets partner needs while staying true to Imprint’s vision to be the best way to pay.

This role blends hands-on technical execution with systems-building, requiring someone who can bring order to ambiguity and scale partner success as Imprint grows.
