Sample interview questions
How would you position Stripe's Fraud & Risk products to an enterprise prospect that already uses a competing fraud platform?

I would begin with discovery into approval rates, fraud-loss exposure, dispute operations, integration constraints, and the competitor's unmet gaps. I would quantify the economic impact of those gaps, map Stripe capabilities to the buyer's priorities, validate the solution with technical and risk stakeholders, and build a mutual action plan that demonstrates measurable differentiated value.

Describe how you would manage a complex deal involving a Chief Risk Officer, CTO, finance leader, and procurement team.

I would create a stakeholder map covering each person's priorities, influence, decision criteria, and potential objections. I would tailor the business case for risk and finance leaders, technical validation for the CTO's organization, and commercial clarity for procurement, while maintaining a documented deal plan with owners, timelines, and executive alignment checkpoints.

What metrics would you use to build a business case for a fraud-prevention solution?

I would evaluate fraud-loss rate, false-positive rate, authorization or approval rate, dispute rate, chargeback costs, manual-review volume, operational cost, customer experience impact, and revenue protected or recovered. The business case would compare the current baseline with expected outcomes, implementation effort, and the financial value of improved risk decisions.

Tell us about a time you overcame a strong incumbent competitor in an enterprise sales cycle.

In a strong answer, I would explain how I uncovered a material unmet need rather than competing only on features or price. I would describe aligning technical proof points to executive outcomes, building internal champions, managing objections early, and using a clear close plan to convert differentiated value into a signed agreement.

How would you turn customer feedback from sales conversations into useful input for Stripe's product roadmap?

I would separate isolated requests from recurring patterns, document the affected segment, workflow, commercial impact, urgency, and supporting evidence, then share a concise synthesis with Product and Engineering. I would validate findings across multiple accounts, articulate the opportunity cost or revenue upside, and keep customers informed about realistic next steps without overcommitting roadmap delivery.
