Sample interview questions
How would you adapt an English Google Ads campaign for a Japanese B2B audience?

I would begin with native-market keyword research rather than direct translation, review local search intent and competitor messaging, and then rewrite copy for natural Japanese business language and cultural expectations. I would structure campaigns around validated Japanese terms, test localized value propositions, and monitor query reports to refine relevance.

What is your process for using search-term reports to improve campaign performance?

I segment queries by intent, conversion performance, cost, and thematic relevance. I add high-value terms as keywords where appropriate, identify irrelevant or low-quality themes for negative lists, and use the findings to improve match types, ad copy, and landing-page alignment.

How have you managed Google Performance Max alongside Search campaigns?

I define distinct objectives and measurement criteria for each campaign type, protect high-intent Search coverage, and evaluate Performance Max incrementality using conversion quality and audience or asset insights. I regularly review overlap, budget allocation, creative assets, and search-category insights before making controlled changes.

How would you communicate an optimization recommendation to an English-speaking team asynchronously?

I would provide a concise written update covering the observation, supporting metrics, likely cause, proposed action, expected impact, and any risks or dependencies. For example, I would explain how a Japanese query trend indicates mismatched intent and attach the recommended negative-keyword or campaign-structure change.

How do you ensure keyword research accurately reflects the Japanese market?

I use Japanese-language keyword tools and native search behavior rather than relying on automated translation. I validate terminology through SERP reviews, search-volume and intent analysis, regional language variants, and ongoing query-report data from live campaigns.
