Sample interview questions
How do you structure a technical discovery session with a prospective customer?

I begin by aligning on the customer's business objective and success criteria, then map their current workflow, stakeholders, integration environment, security requirements, and decision timeline. I summarize the requirements and identify technical risks early so the demonstration or proof of concept is focused on the outcomes that matter most.

Describe how you would explain a REST API integration to a non-technical business stakeholder.

I would describe the API as a secure connection that lets two systems exchange information automatically. I would focus on the business result, such as submitting a verification request, receiving a decision quickly, and reducing manual review, while using a simple workflow diagram rather than implementation jargon.

What is your approach to managing a proof-of-concept engagement?

I define measurable success criteria, scope, responsibilities, timelines, and required technical resources before starting. During the POC, I maintain regular checkpoints, document findings and blockers, involve the appropriate internal teams promptly, and finish with a results review tied directly to the buyer's decision process.

How would you handle a technical objection that could delay a sales cycle?

I would first clarify the underlying concern and its impact on the buyer's requirements. Then I would validate the facts with internal subject-matter experts, provide an accurate solution or workaround, and communicate the path forward clearly with owners and dates to preserve trust and momentum.

How do you prioritize multiple active opportunities at different stages of the sales cycle?

I prioritize based on deal stage, customer deadlines, revenue impact, technical risk, and the actions most likely to advance each opportunity. I keep a clear activity plan in the CRM, align frequently with Account Executives, and proactively reset expectations when competing priorities require sequencing.
