Sample interview questions
I would first validate conversion tracking, attribution settings, landing-page functionality, and traffic quality. Then I would segment performance by campaign, search term, device, audience, geography, and landing page; add relevant negative keywords, refine match types and bids, and test stronger ad-to-landing-page alignment. I would prioritize changes by expected impact, document hypotheses, and assess results against a defined baseline.
I use automation where conversion volume, tracking quality, and clear business goals support it, but I retain governance through account structure, audience signals, exclusions, budget controls, search-term monitoring, and experiment design. Before scaling an automated strategy, I confirm that conversion actions reflect meaningful business value. I also monitor for efficiency shifts and compare automated approaches against controlled tests where possible.
At the channel level, I would monitor spend, impressions, CTR, CPC, conversion rate, CAC or CPA, revenue where available, and pacing. For broader business impact, I would connect platform metrics with new-customer quality, regional outcomes, incrementality, and blended acquisition efficiency. The reporting view should distinguish directly attributable results from upper-funnel or assisted effects.
I would start with the largest opportunities identified in performance data and platform changes, then create prioritized hypotheses with a primary success metric, guardrails, audience scope, and evaluation window. I would avoid testing too many variables in one experiment and preserve a control whenever feasible. After each test, I would communicate the result, decision, learnings, and next action to stakeholders.
I partner with analytics and technical teams to audit pixels, conversion events, UTM conventions, consent behavior, product feeds, and platform-to-analytics reconciliation. I test key events before launches and monitor for sudden volume or value discrepancies. I also maintain documentation so teams and agency partners apply consistent measurement standards across markets.
