Sample interview questions
How would you decide whether to build a generalized platform capability or ship a category-specific solution?

I would assess repeated demand, expected reuse, operational and compliance risk, time-to-market impact, and the cost of future migration. I would use those inputs to articulate a clear decision framework, align stakeholders on the trade-off, and favor a generalized capability when it materially reduces future delivery friction.

Describe how you would modernize a category-specific subscription and billing ecosystem into a headless platform.

I would begin with domain mapping and a capability inventory across subscriptions, product catalog, pricing, billing, and entitlements. Then I would define stable APIs, ownership boundaries, migration sequencing, and success metrics such as launch lead time, configuration error rates, and platform adoption, delivering incremental value while protecting revenue continuity.

How do you influence teams to prioritize platform work when you do not manage them directly?

I connect platform investments to each team's measurable goals, such as faster launches, lower maintenance burden, or fewer production incidents. I make scope, dependencies, and trade-offs transparent, secure committed owners during planning, and use delivery data to sustain alignment and accountability.

What controls would you include in a platform that affects healthcare pricing, billing, and consumer access?

I would partner with finance, clinical, legal, and compliance teams to establish auditable rules, permissions, approval workflows, validation checks, monitoring, and rollback paths. High-risk changes should be traceable, tested in controlled environments, and governed through clear operational ownership.

How would you apply AI to improve the platform and the product team's operating model?

I would target AI at high-value, controlled use cases such as configuration assistance, specification drafting, anomaly detection, support for catalog operations, and insight synthesis. Each use case would have defined accuracy, safety, privacy, and human-review requirements, with measurement before scaling.

About the Role:

Hims and Hers is redefining wellness and healthcare with a fully integrated consumer, clinician, and pharmacy experience designed for the way consumers want to be treated today.

As a Product Lead on our Platform team, you will own the commercial core of Hims & Hers – the membership, catalog, pricing, and billing systems every category sells through, and everything in between – at the exact moment it’s being transformed from category-specific builds into a headless, global platform. You will set the vision, build the foundation, and ship the systems that let the whole business grow faster. This is a leadership seat, owned through influence rather than headcount.

You Will:

  • Own the end-to-end platform, from subscriptions and catalog through pricing, billing, and the monetization logic underneath it all

  • Build the enablement tooling and configuration surfaces that let any category launch new products safely and fast

  • Take capabilities that no single category owns and get them owned, estimated, and sequenced

  • Set the reuse line: decide when a general capability is worth the extra quarter, and when shipping the specific thing is the right call

  • Partner with engineering and design to build AI into the core of the platform

  • Partner with our clinical, finance, and compliance teams to ensure safety, revenue integrity, and regulatory requirements are core to the platform

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Management, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Experience owning platform, systems, or infrastructure products where other teams are your customers; experience with subscriptions, catalog, pricing, billing, or monetization is a plus

  • Experience in a consumer-oriented product role; experience in health, wellness, or category-defining products is a plus

  • A track record of building platforms teams love to build on, measured by how fast those teams ship

  • A track record of getting work owned, estimated, and scheduled without the org authority to force it

  • Comfort telling a partner team no and offering the reusable path instead, plus the judgment to know when that’s the wrong answer

  • AI-native as your default operating mode, with the agents and workflows you actually run day to day to show for it

  • Strategic and tactical experience designing, building, and executing scalable processes and systems from scratch, ideally in an operations-intensive environment

Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):

  • Competitive salary & equity compensation for full-time roles

  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days

  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & vision, and parental leave

  • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)

  • 401k benefits with employer matching contribution

  • Offsite team retreats

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects diverse perspectives and prioritizes ethics, wellness, and a strong sense of belonging. If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply—even if you’re not sure if your background or experience is a perfect match.
