Sample interview questions
How have you automated endpoint compliance or device configuration at scale?

I start by defining measurable controls, such as encryption, OS version, EDR status, and screen-lock settings. I use MDM policies together with Python or Bash tooling to remediate gaps, collect evidence, and report exceptions, then validate changes in a pilot group before broader rollout.

Describe your approach to implementing SSO and lifecycle management for a new SaaS application.

I assess the application's SAML or OIDC capabilities, configure least-privilege role mappings in the identity provider, and use SCIM for automated provisioning and deprovisioning where available. I test joiner, mover, and leaver workflows, document ownership, and monitor audit logs after deployment.

How would you balance strong security controls with a positive employee experience?

I favor controls that are secure by default and low-friction in daily use, such as SSO, self-service access workflows, and clearly communicated device standards. I involve representative users early, measure support friction, and provide practical exceptions with appropriate approval and review.

What is your process for supporting a new office network buildout?

I gather capacity, security, physical-layout, ISP, and resilience requirements first. I then design segmented wireless and wired networks, configure firewall policies and centralized monitoring, validate coverage and failover, and produce documentation for ongoing support and incident response.

How have you contributed to SOC 2 or ISO 27001 readiness?

I map technical controls to system owners and collect durable evidence from IAM, MDM, ticketing, and logging systems. I automate recurring access reviews and endpoint-control reporting where possible, remediate gaps with clear deadlines, and keep procedures current so compliance is operational rather than a one-time audit exercise.
