Sample interview questions
I would first clarify the must-have requirements, likely communities, language or regional constraints, and expected volume. I would then build a channel hypothesis using specialist communities, referrals, professional groups, adjacent titles, and targeted Boolean searches, testing several approaches in parallel. I would track response and conversion rates by channel and quickly shift effort toward the sources producing qualified contributors.
I monitor funnel metrics such as profiles identified, contacts reached, response rate, qualified-screen rate, conversion rate, and time to fill or activate. If a funnel stage underperforms, I investigate whether the issue is audience targeting, messaging, qualification criteria, or process friction. I use those findings to run focused experiments and share practical recommendations with stakeholders.
I would align immediately on volume, quality thresholds, target markets, timelines, and ownership. I would segment the work by channel, geography, or profile type; use automation for repeatable research and outreach tasks; and establish daily reporting on pipeline health and risks. This structure supports rapid scaling without losing visibility into quality or bottlenecks.
I would communicate the risk early with specific evidence, such as limited market supply, low response rates, compensation misalignment, or restrictive requirements. I would explain the expected impact on timing or volume and propose options, such as expanding adjacent profiles, adjusting geography, revising outreach messaging, or prioritizing critical segments. This makes the discussion solution-oriented and enables timely decisions.
AI and automation should reduce repetitive work in research, list building, outreach personalization, and data analysis, allowing sourcers to focus on judgment and relationship-building. I would validate outputs carefully for relevance, accuracy, privacy, and bias before using them. The goal is to improve speed and consistency while retaining human oversight for strategic decisions and candidate engagement.
