Sample interview questions
How would you create a product strategy that works across music, podcasts, and books while respecting the unique needs of each format?

I would begin with shared user jobs, such as discovering relevant content, deciding what to consume, resuming experiences, and organizing a library. I would identify which platform capabilities can be reusable and where format-specific experiences create meaningful value, then use shared outcome metrics and phased experiments to validate the strategy.

Describe how you would evaluate an opportunity to connect listening and reading experiences on Spotify.

I would start with qualitative research and behavioral data to identify user needs and natural cross-format moments. I would define hypotheses, such as whether audiobook listeners benefit from related music or podcast context, test lightweight prototypes, and evaluate incremental engagement, retention, satisfaction, and any negative impact on existing journeys.

How do you align senior stakeholders when format business goals and consumer-experience priorities conflict?

I make the trade-offs explicit through a shared narrative, customer evidence, business context, and measurable decision criteria. I seek alignment on the long-term user and company outcome, document decisions and ownership, and create milestones that allow stakeholders to inspect progress and adjust based on evidence.

What metrics would you use to assess the health of a content discovery experience?

I would use a balanced metric set including qualified discovery rate, content starts, completion or meaningful-engagement rate, repeat consumption, retention, and user satisfaction. I would segment results by format, cohort, and surface, while monitoring guardrails such as diversity, creator outcomes, latency, and unintended displacement of valuable existing behavior.

How have you helped product managers grow while still delivering through a demanding roadmap?

I set clear expectations for product craft, give PMs meaningful ownership, and use regular coaching around strategy, problem framing, stakeholder management, and decision quality. I pair this with lightweight operating mechanisms—such as product reviews and written narratives—so coaching is integrated into delivery rather than treated as separate work.
