Sample interview questions
I would explain the account context, the operational problem, and how I mapped the buying committee early. I would show how I built a quantified business case, aligned an executive sponsor and operational champions, managed procurement, and used a mutual action plan to achieve a signed agreement.
I use inbound and BDR activity as leverage rather than a replacement for personal prospecting. I define high-priority account segments, create tailored executive outreach tied to operational triggers, coordinate campaigns with partners and marketing, and inspect pipeline coverage weekly to address gaps early.
I would begin with discovery around downtime, maintenance execution, data quality, safety, and consistency across sites. I would connect MaintainX capabilities to measurable outcomes such as improved uptime, faster MTTR, stronger preventive-maintenance compliance, and better asset-performance visibility, then validate the economic impact with the customer.
I forecast from verified customer actions rather than optimism, including identified business pain, executive sponsorship, technical validation, procurement requirements, and a mutually agreed close plan. I maintain clear stage exit criteria, document risks and next steps in Salesforce, and communicate changes early so the forecast remains within an appropriate accuracy range.
I return the conversation to the customer’s agreed business outcomes and the cost of inaction, rather than immediately discounting. I clarify the decision criteria, reinforce differentiated value with relevant proof points, engage executive sponsors when appropriate, and structure commercial options that preserve value while helping the customer move forward.
About this role.
MaintainX is a leading mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. More than 13,000 customers, including Duracell, McDonald’s, Shell, DHL and Volvo, use MaintainX to cut unplanned downtime and run better operations, across 13.9 million managed assets and 79.5 million completed work orders.
In August 2026 MaintainX became part of Autodesk, joining Autodesk Operations Solutions, the organization unifying Autodesk’s operations platform alongside Tandem, FlexSim and Fusion Operations. Autodesk’s strategy is to converge design, make and operate into one continuous lifecycle: design an asset, build it, run it, then feed what you learn running it back into the next design. Autodesk had design and make. Operate is the phase that tells you what actually happened, and it is ours.
We’re currently looking for an Account Director to close and manage our Enterprise accounts at MaintainX.This role is unique and different from almost anything else currently available in the market as you will have full ownership and accountability within a defined market at MaintainX. While you will have numerous resources to ensure your success, you will be completely full-cycle: from prospecting, discovery, demo, to signature.
Reporting directly to a Director of Enterprise Sales, and with high visibility across the team, this is a difference-making, meaningful, high-responsibility role. We expect the right candidate to be someone who thinks outside the box, thrives under pressure, and is laser-focused on meeting targets every single month.
What you’ll do:
New Logo Sales – Own new-logo enterprise growth across North East US territory, closing complex, multi-site deals from first conversation through signature.
Prospecting – While you will be provided a healthy amount of leads from other sources (such as marketing and the BDR team), our plan requires some pipeline contribution from self outbound prospecting efforts. Build and manage your own pipeline through targeted prospecting, executive outreach, partner signals, and coordinated campaigns with BDR and Marketing.
Lead Conversion – You will be “handed” warm leads on a regular basis and will need to become elite at nurturing those leads from sales cycle to close.
Presentation – You will be responsible for presentations, such as discovery calls, high-level product demonstrations, and closing calls.
Forecast – You will be expected to accurately forecast monthly and quarterly sales with +/- 15% accuracy.
Systems – We’re a tech company, so we provide you great technology to do your job. You will become a master of using systems like Salesforce, Outreach, ZoomInfo, and others.
Sell to operational and executive buyers — including COOs, VP Operations, Reliability, Engineering, and Maintenance leaders — using the language of uptime, OEE, MTTR, safety, and asset performance.
Lead full-cycle enterprise sales motions, including discovery, business-case development, multi-threading, stakeholder alignment, procurement, negotiation, and close.
Build territory plans that prioritize the right accounts, industries, and expansion opportunities across the region.
Navigate 6–12+ stakeholder buying committees and maintain disciplined forecasting, pipeline hygiene, and mutual action plans.
