Sample interview questions
I first validate tracking, pixel events, attribution settings, and delivery status. I then review performance by audience, placement, creative, funnel stage, and frequency to identify the primary constraint. Based on the findings, I test focused changes to targeting, creative, bids, budget allocation, or landing-page alignment and measure results against a defined KPI.
I would verify that the pixel or tag is installed correctly, confirm the relevant event fires through browser and platform diagnostic tools, and review event parameters and deduplication settings. I would also check URL rules, consent settings, UTM conventions, and recent site changes. After documenting the cause, I would coordinate the fix and validate the data before relying on it for optimization.
I begin with the business objective and present the most relevant KPIs, such as spend, conversions, CPA, ROAS, CTR, and conversion rate. I compare results with the prior period and targets, explain meaningful drivers of change, and distinguish insights from raw data. I conclude with prioritized recommendations, owners, and next steps.
I would segment audiences by intent and engagement, such as new prospects, site visitors, product viewers, cart abandoners, and prior customers. Each segment would receive creative and offers appropriate to its stage, while exclusions prevent wasted spend and message overlap. I would coordinate channel timing and measure incremental results to refine the retargeting approach.
I use structured checklists covering naming conventions, targeting, budgets, pixels, URLs, UTM parameters, creative approvals, and policy compliance. Before launch, I conduct a final review in the platform and test destination pages and conversion events. I also maintain a change log and recurring monitoring routine so issues can be identified quickly after launch.
