Sample interview questions
How have you managed a portfolio of logistics, warehousing, or staffing clients with different operational requirements?

I segment accounts by revenue potential, operational complexity, and risk, then maintain account plans with stakeholder maps, service metrics, demand forecasts, and growth priorities. I establish regular operating reviews and adjust communication frequency when volume, performance, or escalation risk changes.

Describe how you would respond if a warehouse client had a sudden increase in unfilled shifts during a peak season.

I would immediately confirm the demand profile, affected shifts, required certifications, and business impact with the client. I would coordinate with operations to assess available worker supply, prioritize the highest-impact needs, communicate a recovery plan with clear milestones, and provide frequent updates until fill rates stabilize.

How do you identify expansion opportunities within an existing account?

I review usage patterns, site performance, forecasted volume, open locations, and unmet labor categories alongside client goals. I use business reviews to connect proven results—such as improved fill rates or lower absenteeism—to adjacent sites, shifts, markets, or worker types where the solution can add value.

Which metrics would you use to evaluate account health in this role?

I would track fill rate, shift fulfillment speed, worker attendance and performance, client satisfaction, escalation volume and resolution time, retention, revenue growth, and adoption across sites. I would pair the data with qualitative feedback from operational stakeholders to identify risks before they affect the relationship.

How do you communicate effectively with both site-level managers and executive stakeholders?

I tailor the level of detail to the audience. Site managers receive practical updates on coverage, shift performance, and immediate actions, while executives receive concise reporting on business impact, trends, risks, and strategic recommendations supported by clear metrics.

This role is focused on managing a portfolio of accounts – from last-mile delivery providers and 3PLs to warehouse, distribution, and e-commerce fulfillment operators – ensuring they have the right forklift operators, pickers and packers, and drivers to keep operations running smoothly, especially during peak seasons, volume surges, and new site launches.

You will serve as the primary point of contact for your clients, driving satisfaction, retention, and growth while acting as a strategic partner who understands the fast-paced, throughput-driven nature of logistics operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all account management matters for your clients, including staffing planning, escalations, and ongoing strategy

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with site and warehouse managers, operations and fleet leaders, safety managers, HR leaders, and other key stakeholders

  • Develop a deep understanding of each client’s operating environment – including shift patterns, volume forecasts, delivery routes, equipment and certification requirements, and safety standards – to proactively meet their workforce needs

  • Maintain and grow client contracts, identifying upsell and expansion opportunities across new sites, shifts, markets, or job categories (e.g., forklift operators, pickers and packers, and drivers)

  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, aligning WorkWhile’s solutions to their operational goals and labor challenges, such as turnover, absenteeism, and overtime costs

  • Ensure timely and successful fulfillment of shifts and workforce solutions in line with client expectations and SLAs

  • Communicate the progress of weekly, monthly, and quarterly workforce initiatives clearly to both internal teams and client stakeholders

  • Forecast and track key account metrics including fill rates, worker performance, client satisfaction scores, and revenue growth

  • Prepare regular account health reports and business reviews tailored to operations leadership

  • Collaborate with the Sales team to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and expand WorkWhile’s presence across new facilities, markets, or regions

  • Partner with Ops teams to ensure worker supply meets client demand, especially during peak periods (Q4 holiday, major promotional events, seasonal volume spikes, etc.)

  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations, providing quick and effective resolutions to minimize operational disruption

What You Bring

  • 3-5+ years of proven experience as an Account Manager, ideally within logistics, warehousing, last-mile delivery, staffing, or workforce solutions

  • Strong understanding of warehouse, fulfillment, and delivery operations, labor dynamics, and the staffing challenges unique to high-volume, shift-based environments

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence stakeholders at all levels — from site supervisors to VP-level operations executives

  • Experience managing multi-site or enterprise accounts is a strong plus

  • Solid experience with CRM software (Salesforce or similar) and Google Suite

  • Track record of delivering client-focused solutions and hitting retention and growth targets

  • Ability to juggle multiple accounts and competing priorities while maintaining sharp attention to detail

  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Undergraduate degree preferred
