Sample interview questions
How do you keep a software team on track when priorities change during a sprint?

I first clarify the business urgency and impact with the product owner, then assess the new work against the sprint goal and available capacity. If the change is necessary, I make the trade-offs visible, document the decision, and ensure the team and stakeholders agree on what will move or be deferred.

Describe how you identify and manage cross-team dependencies.

I surface dependencies during planning and refinement, assign clear owners, and record expected dates and risks in a shared delivery view. I revisit them regularly in coordination meetings, escalate blockers early, and communicate the impact on milestones in concise stakeholder updates.

How do you facilitate an effective retrospective?

I create a psychologically safe format that focuses on observable events rather than blame. The team identifies what worked, what did not, and one or two concrete improvement actions with owners and due dates; I follow up on those actions in subsequent retrospectives.

What would you include in a delivery status report for leadership?

I would summarize progress against outcomes and milestones, upcoming work, key metrics where available, active risks and dependencies, decisions needed, and any changes to scope or timeline. The report should be brief, audience-appropriate, and explicit about the actions leadership can take to remove blockers.

How do you communicate between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders?

I tailor the level of detail to the audience while preserving accuracy. For technical teams, I focus on requirements, sequencing, dependencies, and blockers; for non-technical stakeholders, I explain customer impact, delivery confidence, risks, and decisions in clear business language.
