Sample interview questions
Describe a partnership you created that materially improved product distribution, revenue, or a core platform capability.

I would explain the strategic problem, the partner-selection criteria, the commercial and technical structure, and my ownership of negotiations and execution. I would quantify the outcome using adoption, revenue, retention, cost savings, or time-to-market metrics and describe the lessons applied afterward.

How would you prioritize potential partnerships, acquisitions, and internal build opportunities for Phantom?

I would use a structured framework covering strategic fit, user impact, revenue potential, execution complexity, regulatory risk, time to value, and defensibility. I would make the trade-offs explicit, identify the few opportunities that close critical capability gaps, and recommend a clear build, buy, or partner path.

Tell us about a complex transaction that you sourced and led through diligence, negotiation, closing, and integration.

A strong answer should specify the transaction thesis, diligence findings, negotiation issues, stakeholder alignment process, and final deal structure. It should also cover integration planning, realized outcomes, and what the candidate would change in a future transaction.

What crypto and fintech trends should influence Phantom's business-development and corporate-development priorities over the next two years?

I would assess trends through their ability to improve user access, liquidity, trading utility, trust, and distribution rather than following narratives alone. I would present a prioritized view spanning onchain markets, stablecoin infrastructure, tokenized assets, protocol partnerships, consumer distribution, and relevant regulatory developments.

How do you communicate an uncertain market opportunity or difficult deal recommendation to executive leadership?

I use concise decision memos that separate facts, assumptions, risks, scenarios, and the recommended action. I make clear what must be true for success, identify leading indicators and decision gates, and provide leadership with an execution-ready recommendation rather than a broad research summary.
