Sample interview questions
I would complete a structured assessment of the pain condition, prior treatments, functional impact, comorbidities, current medicines, mental-health history, contraindications, and the patient's goals. I would explain the available evidence and uncertainties, assess risks and potential interactions, and document a shared decision-making process before creating a monitored treatment plan.
I use a consistent remote-assessment framework, confirm patient identity and clinical history, review relevant records and medications, and document indications, risks, consent, and follow-up plans clearly. I would also work closely with nurses and pharmacists, escalate concerns promptly, and ensure patients know how to access support or urgent care when needed.
I would reassess the diagnosis, pain mechanisms, functional limitations, treatment adherence, adverse effects, and psychosocial contributors. I would set realistic functional goals with the patient, consider evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological options, and coordinate with relevant specialists while monitoring outcomes over time.
Outcome data is essential for evaluating effectiveness, safety, tolerability, and real-world patient benefit where the evidence base is still developing. I would ensure accurate, consistent data capture, use findings to guide individual care, and contribute insights that strengthen clinical protocols and governance.
I would establish clear communication about clinical responsibilities, ensure that assessment findings and prescribing decisions are documented promptly, and remain accessible for escalation or complex cases. Respectful collaboration enables each professional to work to their strengths while maintaining continuity and safety for the patient.
