Sample interview questions
I begin with the protocol, schedule of assessments, eligibility criteria, and disease-specific standards such as RECIST and CTCAE. I review data longitudinally across domains to identify inconsistencies, safety signals, missing information, and protocol deviations, then document clinically meaningful queries and follow them through resolution with the appropriate study functions.
I apply the criteria to assess whether recorded disease assessments and adverse-event grading are internally consistent, complete, and aligned with protocol requirements. When findings are unclear, I compare source-aligned data points across visits and collaborate with medical monitors, sites, and data management to resolve discrepancies without making unsupported assumptions.
I would identify critical data and processes, monitor trends through data review outputs and team feedback, and assess their potential impact on participant safety and study endpoints. I would bring prioritized risks to cross-functional review meetings, define practical mitigation actions, and monitor whether the actions reduce the observed risk.
I establish a clear plan with milestones, dependencies, owners, and escalation thresholds for each study. I prioritize participant safety, database-lock-critical activities, and high-impact risks, communicate capacity constraints early, and maintain transparent trackers so stakeholders understand progress and decisions.
I pair structured training on protocols, therapeutic-area standards, and review processes with supervised practical work. I provide specific feedback on clinical reasoning and documentation, encourage questions and independent analysis, and gradually increase ownership while remaining available for escalation on complex issues.
