Sample interview questions
I would start with the advertiser's growth objectives, target audience, seasonal priorities, and current category challenges. I would then identify relevant fan behaviors, cultural moments, and Fandom capabilities, organizing them into a simple narrative that connects insight to a recommended commercial approach and measurable advertiser value.
I build a modular core narrative with a clear category problem, supporting evidence, differentiated positioning, solutions, and proof points. I create reusable sections for audience, insights, formats, and case studies, then provide guidance on which modules sellers can customize for an account while preserving a consistent strategic story.
I align feedback to the deck's intended audience, commercial objective, and evidence base rather than treating all input as equal. I clarify decision owners, identify points of agreement, and propose edits that protect narrative clarity while incorporating the expertise each team contributes.
For an automotive category initiative, I might build a narrative around major entertainment releases and fandom-driven consideration moments, showing how engaged audiences research, discuss, and share interests. The deck would connect those behaviors to an automotive brand's awareness or model-launch goals and give sellers a timely reason to request a client conversation.
I would use approved AI tools to accelerate research synthesis, outline development, and first-pass content organization. I would validate every claim against trusted source material, remove unsupported assumptions, check brand and client context, and apply human judgment to ensure the final narrative is accurate, secure, and commercially compelling.

Fandom’s Category Partnerships business supports advertisers across CPG, QSR, Financial Services, Retail, Technology, Telecommunications and Automotive.
You’ll translate Fandom’s audience, insights, products and capabilities into clear, compelling category narratives and polished sales decks that show brands why Fandom matters to their business.
This role supports sales and sits at the intersection of strategy, storytelling and sales enablement—identifying the strongest story for each category and giving our Revenue teams the materials they need to proactively create opportunities.
You Will…
Own Category Partnership Storytelling
Develop and maintain pre-sale decks, narratives and sales materials for priority advertiser categories including CPG, QSR, Financial Services, Automotive, Retail, Telco and Technology.
Translate Fandom’s fan intelligence, audience insights and capabilities into simple, persuasive stories tied to category and advertiser objectives.
Customize core Category Partnership narratives for priority accounts and opportunities.
Ensure every deck has a clear strategic story, strong narrative flow and polished presentation.
Keep Category Partnership materials current as Fandom’s insights, products and marketplace positioning evolve.
Develop Proactive Category Narratives
Understand the key business challenges, consumer behaviors and marketing priorities within each category.
Identify the fan behaviors, cultural moments and audience opportunities most relevant to each vertical (i.e. fan holidays, seasonal moments, major releases)
Develop proactive stories that give sellers a reason to approach clients before a brief or RFP arrives.
Connect Fandom’s capabilities into cohesive recommendations rather than presenting individual products in isolation.
Identify opportunities to create repeatable category narratives and sales materials that can scale across multiple accounts.
Partner With Revenue
Work closely with Category Partnership sellers to understand account priorities and translate them into compelling pre-sale stories.
Support priority client meetings, proactive outreach and category-specific pitches with strategic narratives and presentation materials.
Incorporate seller and client feedback to continuously strengthen Category Partnership positioning and collateral.
Partner across Insights, Product Marketing, Creative and other teams to bring the strongest Fandom story into each category narrative.
What Success Looks Like
Revenue teams have clear, differentiated and compelling stories for every priority category.
Sellers can confidently explain why Fandom matters to a CPG, QSR, Financial Services, Retail, Tech, Telco or Automotive marketer—and translate that story into a reason for a client conversation.
Ultimately, this role helps shift Category Partnerships from responding to briefs to proactively creating opportunities, using strong strategy and storytelling to drive client interest, pipeline and revenue.
You Have…
- Experience servicing media sales teams at a publisher
- 5+ years of experience in pre-sale advertising solutions, deck-building, storytelling, sales enablement

Bonus Points…
- You understand the art of deck building and are comfortable designing/editing a deck beyond just storytelling
