Sample interview questions
I would segment accounts by strategic fit, size, relevant clinical or operational triggers, stakeholder accessibility, and likelihood of near-term need. I would then build targeted contact maps and sequence the highest-priority accounts with personalized messaging.
I would acknowledge their position, ask a concise permission-based question to understand their current priorities, and offer a relevant reason for a short follow-up. If timing is the issue, I would confirm a specific future date and log clear context in Salesforce.
I would track activity volume, connection rate, email open and reply rates, meeting conversion, show rate, qualified-opportunity conversion, and pipeline generated. I would review performance by account segment, persona, channel, and message to identify where to adjust.
I use Salesforce as the source of truth for account, contact, activity, and opportunity data, while using engagement tools to organize sequences and follow-ups. I maintain accurate notes, next steps, dispositions, and lead status so the wider team can act on reliable information.
I would document what I test, including targeting hypotheses, messaging, objections, conversion results, and effective follow-up patterns. I would share structured feedback regularly with sales, marketing, product, and account-management partners and turn successful approaches into repeatable processes.
About this role.
What you’ll be part of
Garner is on a mission to transform the U.S. healthcare system — and we’re the only proven player doing exactly that. We partner with employers to redesign how healthcare works: applying 550+ proprietary clinical metrics across 80+ specialties to a dataset of 320M+ patients to identify the best-performing doctors, then using compelling incentives to steer members to the care that helps them get healthier, faster.
The result is a rare “win win” — better care and lower costs for both members and employers. In just five years, our work has helped over 2.5 million people access higher-quality care and saved $1B in healthcare costs. We recently raised our Series E and have doubled five years running. If you’ve ever wanted your work to solve a problem that touches every person in this country, this is the opportunity to do exactly that. You’d be joining a team fundamentally reimagining healthcare in the U.S. — and using AI to scale that impact further and faster than anyone else can.
Who we want
This is a role for someone who wants to work on a hard problem, deliver real impact and be pushed to be the best version of themselves. As a Business Development Representative, Provider, you’ll report to the VP of Business Development and partner closer with our Provider team. You will own a critical component of Garner’s provider go-to-market motion, owning initial outreach to targeted health system and provider partners, working in conjunction with the sales and marketing teams. This is a builder’s seat: our outreach playbook is still being written, and the person in this role will help write it.
What you will do
- Generate qualified meetings and pipeline for Garner’s Provider organization, while meeting or exceeding target BDR activity metrics
- Work with and leverage sales teammates to develop targeted lists, call strategies, and messaging to drive opportunities
- Utilize business and industry knowledge to research accounts, identify key targets, generate interest, identify compelling events, and develop accounts
- Conduct high-level discovery conversation in target accounts
- Manage, track and report on all activities using Salesforce
- Contribute to the creation of a repeatable go-to-market playbook, providing feedback to the Product, Sales, and Account Management teams while continuously improving our messaging, targeting, and objection handling
What we’re looking for
- 1 – 3 years relevant work experience, ideally in a fast paced selling environment
- Positive and energetic phone skills, excellent listening skills and strong writing skills
- Inbound and outbound calling experience
- Proficient in Salesforce, Outreach, and ZoomInfo
- Experience with healthcare a plus
- A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success
- A desire to do work that matters: and to be held to a high standard while doing it. You’re energized by a mission with measurable outcomes, not just good intentions. You engage with AI tools as part of how you do your best work, and hold yourself accountable to outcomes that matter beyond your team’s metrics.
What you’ll get here
You’ll work on problems that matter, at a company working to change healthcare at scale. You’ll work at the intersection of AI and systemic healthcare reform, where the problems we solve are as interesting and compelling as the mission.
At Garner, you’ll take on real, ambitious problems with real ownership and autonomy, alongside exceptional, principles-based people who genuinely want you to win. It’s demanding by design. You’ll be challenged to stretch beyond what you thought possible and receive consistent coaching to help you grow and do the best work of your career. This isn’t the right fit for everyone, and that’s intentional. The people here are driven by what’s at stake for real people, and that’s what gives our intensity its purpose.
