Sample interview questions
How would you create a success plan for a new strategic customer using a complex ERP or field-service platform?

I would begin with stakeholder discovery to understand the customer's operational goals, workflows, baseline metrics, and executive priorities. I would then create a joint success plan with milestones for adoption, measurable KPIs, ownership, review dates, and a clear value hypothesis tied to the platform's capabilities.

Describe how you would identify and mitigate renewal risk in an enterprise portfolio.

I would monitor leading indicators such as product adoption, support trends, stakeholder engagement, sentiment, and progress against agreed outcomes. When risk emerges, I would document its root cause, align an action plan with the customer and internal triad, set short review cadences, and escalate appropriately while keeping the renewal manager informed.

How do you make an Executive Business Review valuable for C-suite stakeholders?

I keep the discussion outcome-focused rather than feature-focused. I present concise evidence of business value, KPI movement, risks, strategic priorities, and a forward-looking roadmap, then use the session to secure executive alignment on decisions and mutual commitments.

What is your approach to identifying expansion opportunities without undermining the trusted-advisor relationship?

I identify expansion only when it addresses a documented customer objective, workflow gap, or unrealized value opportunity. I validate the need with the customer, quantify the potential impact where possible, and pass a well-qualified opportunity to sales while remaining focused on the customer's success plan.

How would you use a platform such as Planhat or Gainsight to manage a portfolio effectively?

I would configure health scoring around meaningful adoption, engagement, support, and commercial signals; use playbooks for recurring risk and adoption scenarios; and maintain accurate success plans and stakeholder records. Dashboards and alerts would help me prioritize outreach while portfolio reporting would support forecasting and internal account planning.
